You were a skeptic when we built the Poly house Theben , and a contributer...but if you go to the pic thread you'll notice three white guys standing on the steps of the Poly house. Look at the uglies...erm, least beautiful real closely...it's you! I kind of figured the skepticism would come from someone else and I'd be able to say, 'don't believe me, talk to Theben'. However, I guess you are a skeptic to the bone, wise no doubt in this world.

I've never lost anything sent to Bohol, and when Dolores and I were first engaged I sent her $20 in every letter and wrote one every day so that she would have $ to live and go to the embasy for her appointment. That said I've heard stories of letters opened and $ taken out. It happened to a friend that sent a few bucks in a birthday card to his fiance in Manila,but that's Manila...

Anyway, just to be sure if someone were to open the letter and steal the check they could not cash it, it would be worthless to them.

Sorry for the writers cramp.

I'll do the paypal thing if it's really important to people, don't want to put anyone off from helping. Just let me know and I'll search their site and get signed up.

If it goes with little to no hassle (which probably means PayPal) I'm in too. I can't send a check, as I haven't seen one in years. I won't send cash either, because I don't want to bother my bank with a minor EUR->USD exchange and I'm not too keen to send cash anyway (bad experiences from letters to Russia ). But if it's for a good purpose (and I trust Lancer on that) you can count on me.

aw, geez, i dunno Lancer... MY store i work at would totally collapse right now if i wasnt there... i have been called to come in to work every day off for 3 weeks straight. I am the best goddamn employee they have that knows almost everything and its the busiest time of the year right now. Although i DO have the money to get a plane ticket, and I CAN afford to take a week or two off work, the store would simply collapse upon itself and everybody would panic. I am not bragging i am being honest.

Also I am due for a major Hernia operation in the near future. I cannot put it off any more, maybe another month or so because it hurts bad. It is an inguinal hernia on the right side, i had the same operation on the left side 2 years ago.

I really want to see you and chill in the Philippines, i have never been outside North America. I guess i need to get a passport too. Remember I am staight out of the ghetto, about 2 years strong now, I am still breaking myself out of the "survival mindset."

AAHZ, do things calm down at work after the holidays? Why not get your operation here btw? It will cost you a fraction of what it costs in the states. Then you can hang out at our beach property and heal up. Nothing like a mango margarita to get the juices flowing...

Regarding survivor mode, I grew up in Jersey, I have that sense... and I've always found this to be a safe place. That said, nothing is sure in this life, as you well know.

Lancer, once you 'verify' your bank details with your paypal account, it is fairly trivial to withdraw from it. If you're careful about the amounts you withdraw you can even do it without paying a fee if it's a direct deposit...

IIRC, Karen Mills had a more compelling story. She and her mother were in an abusing living situation, and Karen needed a place from where she could go to nursing school.

Nurses have a special place in Old Zkribb's heart, along with tearchers and librarians.

What a day! and it's only half over... Spent the first half moving wet, claylike sticky limestone muck to backfill the ocean property behind the new seawall. Miserable work, ugg I'm beat...not getting any younger I guess.
