The argument that objects and labor have objective value always degenrates to an argument that there is no private property (including one's labor as property).

      Why?

Look at the skin vs. cash. If private property is respected, what any person thinks other than the tribe members and the westerner is irrelevant since we are not part of the transaction and have no say in whether the transaction happens or which item the tribespeople pick. Since the only thing affecting the tranaction is how the tribespeople feel about the choice, they most certainly are placing a value on one item over the other. No one else can. How you or I feel about the value of the skin vs. the cash is irrelevant since we are not part of the transaction.

The only way other people can affect the outcome is if private property is not respected and you don't allow the transaction to happen. If the westerner is not allowed to freely give away his property, it is not really his property.

Similarly, if you cannot agree to trade your labor for a particular amount of money, you don't really own your own labor. So by setting an "objective" value to a person's labor you are in essence taking away that person's ownership of the labor since they are no longer free to trade it for what they want.

By the way, I am a direct descendant of William Penn, who founded Pennsylvania. As a Quaker, he was certainly was not a slave owner. Yet he was most definitely a founder of the US. How can that be?

How anyone feels about the value of either asset is irrelevant. It's a fact that the cash is more valuable than the skin because you can pick the cash and trade it for more skin. The only reason a rational person would choose the skin is if they are ignorant of that fact. Not because they have a greater taste for skin. Even if they prefer skin it is rational to choose the cash.

You won't tell us the true value, so thats is irrelevant.

From your source, the market gives you a true value that is objective that it is comparing the traded value to to come up with "undervalued"

              You Fail.

That is a piss poor definition. Undervalued means it is being traded below its potential value.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

An undervalued stock is undervalued because traders do not yet understand it's value. This is the stock you look for to make money in the stock market. In a nutshell that is how markets and capitalism works.

Potential value doesn't do anything. A potential value can be anything. It doesn't make things happen in the economy.

Holy **** dude. I never said I wanted to make his decision. I wouldn't mind preventing him from being ****ed over because he's ignorant of the way the economy works though. Texas? Yah, figures.

You don't need to worry about me anymore than I need to worry you. We are each just one man.

I would have given 10 to 1 odds though that you would make the discussion turn in this direction though. You are so predictable.
