Bah, come on Seeker. Even if you were an American, you still wouldn't get to decide when to go to war etc. The public doesn't decide it.

Besides, in 20 years, are you going to make a thread "Unfairness of not being Chinese"?
    In da butt.

                  Alright, now we're talkin.

let's see if I can guess motives...

Alberta for oil (we'll call the rednecks a freebie throw-in)

and BC for... strategic reasons? Link you up on west coast? You do realise crazy people live in/run BC?

Done. What will you give us in return?

SIMPLY on the basis of not triggering nuclear war, I(an American) am greatful my fellow masses do not set foreign policy. I would rather it be set by corrupt plutocratic oligarchs who run the country for their own personal profit, then by Ted from Alabama who wants to nuke any country with muslims in it.

Does thus Ted represent the majority of Americans?

If so, by Geroge I think you're right.

We're not afraid. We'll just use our almighty dollar to purchase some cheap imported US weaponry.

Judging by the Canadian press I thought for sure you'd mention water rights. I understand media in western Canada has recently worked themselves into a lather attempting to block sales of water to the US.

Unfortunately, in their zeal to denounce American water imperialism the Canadian media over looked the fact that no one in the US has ever proposed purchasing Canadian water and that the cost of building a new 1,300 mile aqueduct from BC to SoCal would be prohibitively expensive.

Besides we've already plunked down money to build new desalinization plants.

A pipe to LA is unlikely but not impossible. We send oil vast distances by pipeline. How thirsty is LA likely to get? Or if you solve your problems with desalinization plants, how thirsty will Vegas get?

Regardless, there are many feasable, closer to the border water projects that raise similar concerns. It's not an issue I've followed much but as I understand it the concern relates to a precedent being set which would require/obligate future "sales" like it or not under NAFTA or some other agreement...

Alright, don't push your luck. I'm from Michigan, dammit. No state (or soon to be state) is better.

But yea, Ontario is really nice. I have family there. I've hung out up at Lake Simcoe, been to Toronto, etc. PLUS, we can finally get both sides of Niagra Falls (and all the cool stuff is on the Canadian side).

And finally.... DanQ lives in Ontario, so if we make the trade, Apolyton is finally 100% under American control. Mwa-ha-ha!
