From the updated NY Times article:

However, the government said Ms. Bhutto was not officially detained at her home. “She is not under house arrest,” a superintendent of police, Aftab Nasir, told the official Pakistani press agency. “Only the security has been enhanced.”

Grr. Why is far-sighted foreign policy such an unpopular idea?

However if you think your country would be better off with more Pakistans on your friends list you are seriously deluded.

This may be inappropriate given the somber tone of this thread, but what the heck:

Am I the only one who thinks that Bhutto is good looking? Not bad for a 55 year old head of state

                      False.

President Bush did in fact say yesterday one cannot be President and commander of military forces at the same time. He seems to forget that he's something called a "Commander-in-Chief" and that as President does in fact command a military at the same time as being a president.

                        Moron. Can't you read?

Musharraf is the head of state and the Army chief. The President of the US is commander in chief, meaning that there is civilian control of the Army, but he isn't the general on the top of the Army command structure. Basically it'd be like the Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff being both that and President of the US at the same time

In addition to that, it also helps to note that the military in Pakistan has IMMENSE power. Imagine if the US military constantly overthrew civilian governments and then having the head of the JCS attempt to be President and claiming democracy!

In reality, what power does the JCS have over the military that the President doesn't?

Nevermind. You should have noted (or rather, LEFT the note) that it was Imran who had posted that.

Oh, and you left this part off of that same post:
