So, there are different standards in journalism based on race or Nationality?
No, you seemed to be implying that he WASN'T giving an interview to a member of the US media.

I was getting confused by a Scotsman defending the right of the US media to ask moronic and impertinent questions to a foreign head of state.
You being a US citizen places thing in a more comprehensible perspective. It's still silly though.
OK, now you're letting your bias show. You're lumping me in with the idiots that give a sh*t about the personal lives of politicians and celebrities.

He claimed he was a very busy man. Could it mayhaps have something to do with THAT, do you think? We won't know and we really should care.

All he did here was show his own inability to handle the situation like an adult.
        Wrong.

When Sarkozy said: "If I had anything to say about Cecilia, it wouldn't be here to do it", she went on to say: Oh, but there is so much romour bla bla bla, how can you possibly refuse to comment any further?

          I did?

To be honest, I dont think I implied anything. I stated that Sarkozy *****-slapped CBS' 60 minutes.

Then why are you getting all worked up when Sarkozy by action basically gives the finger to all who do? Precious misses interviewer in the first and foremost place?

I really don't give a **** about "he should have expected personal questions by US medias" - if US politicians accept such, well, thats their problem.

Actually, it was a pretty strong way of saying "I'm a poor wittle baby who can't handle uncomfortable questions like an adult."
No, that is actually a pretty strong way to say that you have passed a personal limit and that you have just screwed up your work

This won't do jacksh*t to her reputation.
Of course it will - she has just demonstrated that she is a garbage journalist and any sensible politician will think twice before agreeing to be interviewed by her.

                "What was unfair?"
"But there’s a great mystery. Everybody’s asking. Even your press secretary was asked at the briefing today. No comment?"

"Well he was quite right to make no comment. And no comment. Thank you."

He then ends the interview there. Next time, you might try LISTENING to the video. As I said before, bigger adults can say "No comment" and move on with the interview. That's what I'm taking issue with. Even Lord Pissy Pants himself, President Bush, will sit through situations that are less than a perfect bubble for him. If I cared about politicians' divorces, I'd be howling about Republicans divorces. As it is, I only care when there's hypocrisy involved, like when they try to ban gay marriage.

Anyway, I'm bored. In all honesty I just wanted to make a "France Surrenders" thread, but was too late. I've stated my piece here about how he should have handled the situation like an adult or AT LEAST as well as Pres. Bush does, sheesh. Something more interesting has come (NBC's Heroes) and I'm watching now.

I'd leave too if I had flat out said "I wouldn't talk about that here" and the idiot asked again. Would you sit there and answer the same question over and over?

Sarkozy: (thought balloon) Merde. This woman is good. How the hell am I going to wezel myself out of this? (long pauze) I can't. I'd better cry and run to mommy

Uhm, well. I guess that we can say that DRoseDARs chickened out of this interview

I think it's reasonable to label him as a wussy

I think "weasel" is what you are after. I would still take that as a slight against my brethren however.
