[SIZE=1] Even the Dark Lord Cheney managed to tough it out when asked about his lesbian daughter.
I don't understand what Cheney has to do with this.
If Cheney danced in a chicken suit when asked to do so by journalists, would that make Sarkozy a wuss for not doing it?

This appears to be the premise of the very same program making this faux pas. Apart from Sarkozy saying that he likes the USA and wants to have good relations with them (with the right to disagree!), I see no evidence of him wanting to be a groupie.

Do you take all **** at face value?

Too bad. Her rep is taking a kicking now.

How much do you want to bet her updated wiki entry speaks of the French President leaving an interview b/c she started asking personal questions?

Erm, duh? I'm not disagreeing with the idea that the US media should report news, not trash. Problem is, the US media reports trash and this guy should have known that.

Sarkozy is not doing the US media circus, he's giving a bloody interview!
So 60 Minutes is... a Czechoslovakian newscast?

Or are the two synonims nowadays?
          We often wonder...

you can't be a real Scotsman, are you?
What would THAT have to do with anything? I'm USian by birth, but my family extends back several centuries (Clan Rose) through Kilravock Castle, Inverness, Scotland.

Well, you do a lot of crying because the french president won't play by american "journalist" rules.

I think that Sarkozy leaving like he did is a pretty strong way of saying "screw you" - I assume that there is a more polite expression of this in langua politica.

Stahl might have a previous good reputation, but has also by this proven that retirement may be a good thing before it gets too embarrasing.

            Edit: doing a test.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Again, she's a respected journalist. But that doesn't mean her manager is... That's one of the problems with the US media, journalists are always under pressure by higher ups to ask questions that they think the US people want to hear ... which many do because they're morons.

Dense? What are you? An amoebe?

Ending the interview was not an option for both parties. Sarkosy very politely told the interviewer she was threading into off-limit waters. And very rightfully so. His private life is of no business to anyone but him (and, in this case, his wife). He did not run away. But she (as so many so-called journalists) lost to ability to listen and was only aiming for soundbites for her program.

Well, she got them, and she's talk of the town.

Your post here is so asinine. He should have known full well that he was going to be asked personal questions by US media, and yet MY pointing this fact out is "crying."

Why do you think he was calling his press secretary an idiot?

                      1. You agree the question was moronic (claiming she had too ask b/c of someone else - so much for professional rep btw)

                      2. She asked the question.

                      3. It will be remembered she asked the question.

What, was al Qaeda holding guns to their heads?

Sarkosy very politely told the interviewer she was threading into off-limit waters.
Her exact last words were to him were, blah blah "No comment?" He replied back, blah blah "...and no comment, thank you." and ended the interview there. I've seen PLENTY of interviews where the interview continued quite amicably on to other subjects after the words "No comment" are uttered on a given subject. All he did here was show his own inability to handle the situation like an adult.

And very rightfully so. His private life is of no business to anyone but him (and, in this case, his wife). He did not run away.
No, he didn't. He smiled, began removing his mic, shuffled around a bit, got up, shook Stahl's hand, and left.

For all we know this is why he called his press-secretary an 'imbicile'

So 60 Minutes is... a Czechoslovakian newscast?

So, there are different standards in journalism based on race or Nationality?

I was getting confused by a Scotsman defending the right of the US media to ask moronic and impertinent questions to a foreign head of state.
You being a US citizen places thing in a more comprehensible perspective. It's still silly though.

Not one bit. Maybe it should, maybe it should get her manager fired. Don't know, don't care.

I'm sure wiki (and other sources) will be sure to mention her manager's assumed complicity in this.
