My wife proofreads for a few women who are active in the hockey fanfic community. Some of the people who write that stuff are clearly deranged.
What the hell.... erotic stories involving hockey gear?

She's seen things you people wouldn't believe. Norris trophy winners buggering each other on road trips. The New York Rangers nakedly romping in Florida. An epidemic of fellatio in the Carolina Hurricanes' dressing room. Time to die...

I've never actually read any of it myself (I fear permanent mental scarring), but it is all written by women, and is all evidence of deeply warped personalities. My wife will proof her friends fanfic, but she draws the line at that stuff.

It's completely sick, crazy and disgusting. Apparently most fanfic is like this (I shudder to think what the Harry Potter fanfic is like).

I hope the players or their families never end up reading this ****. Feminists have nothing to complain about. Guys like watching a couple of pretty girls engage in basic vanilla sex with each other. You don't see us writing novels about the sado masochistic lesbian adventures of female sports stars. But women seem to like writing this sort of stuff about the romantic gay adventures of NHL players. I mean... mulleted NHL players... the least erotic people in the world.

I wish she had said "a homosexual" instead of gay, that way it would have been more shocking

I just had images of inappropriate use of a hockey stick... this is more disturbing.

It's like the Japanese women that read male homo-erotic comics on Tokyo train commutes, WTF.

these are fictional characters and all. If it isn't in the book, who cares if they are gay or not? These has as much relevance as a gay teletubby.

I mean, whats a "tele-tubby" gonna tell me or anyone else about ourselves that we dont already know deep down inside, is it going to tell of our unadmitted desires or is going to water a seed which produces the fruit to grow a strong tree?

Certainly it wont plant a false seed, which is what i am imagining some folks woiuld lead to suggest

To be fair, even queer theorists themselves cannot say concisely what queer theory is. Basically, a QT is someone who takes every single thing he or she (typically she) sees as an excuse to babble on about deviant or just atypical sexual practices and the social networks and concepts built around them.

Now that I think of it, I shouldn't have singled out queer theorists as the one group unworthy of attention; I have roughly equivalent contempt for postcolonialism (everything is about the white man screwing over his brothers and stealing their resources), feminist theory (everything is about our oppressive patriarchal hierarchy's fear of vagina power), deconstructivism (everything is about inventing nonexistent paradoxes and explaining them in needless jargon so people will get scared and give you tenure), and most other branches of lit crit BS.

They're like the one-trick ponies we find on this and other forums, in that they reroute every discussion on every subject to harp on about their pet obsessions, only they apparently get paid to do it. I believe they should all be soundly flogged--except for the queer theorists, who might enjoy it.

I think the observations made by such individuals can be useful sometimes, but I don't think anything they say necessarily applies to a greater whole. They should make points instead of theories.

No, I think if she had said "pedophile" or "ephebophile" it would have been more shocking.
