Ted Koppel related an interesting statistic last night on the Daily Show.

California prisons have a maximum capacity of 100,000.
The current prision population in California is 175,000.

I see no problem with that. It just means some prisoners will have to double up and use a bunk bed. It's just like summer camp but with more prison rape.

Koppel showed a video of one prison gymnasium. It's filled with aisles and aisles of bunkbeds. That prison had already had three race riots this year.

I thought LA county had a revolving door on its jail. Who's holding all those people, Z?

Pish posh. These things happen. Haven't we all experienced a race riot at least once in our lifetimes? I think the answer is yes.

                      1) Lock up tens of thousands of criminals in inhuman conditions for decades. Get them really frustrated and angry.

                      2) When their sentences are up, release them back into an unsuspecting society.

                      3) Sit back and watch the fun.

Everyone knows there are prisons that are nasty places. If then you commit a crime and land in one, oh well.

"If you can't do the time, don't do the crime" is hardly a new concept. If someone then does a crime anyway they shouldn't be too shocked if prison sucks. Prison should suck. I only feel for their victims, not for them.
