As much as I am not a fan of NJ, once you get away from the northeast part of the state and some of the other bad coastal areas, NJ has quite a lot of beautiful areas.

OMFG! There are more inmates in prison age 55+ than ever before? Wow! I wonder what the babyboomers think about a population explosion in their age group!

It doesn't make a lot of sense to pay for medium or maximum scurity for inmates incapable of escape.

Actually thst is a very good point, whilst the harsher sentancing laws have exacerbated the problem (particularly abolishing parole) , could most of it just be because of the bulge caused by the baby boomer generation?

I suddenly had a vision of a "Great Escape," where scores of inmates tunnel out of a prison and then flee on crutches and wheelchairs. They shoplift at nearby stores for Depends and OMG...Viagra!

the logical solution is to move older inmates to minimum security prisons. But in the case of high profile mobsters, even if they can't escape, other people could get them out. they should remain in maximum security.

Yeah, I can agree with that. I'm no bleeding heart so their age causes me no sympathy, I'm just looking at it from a practicality POV. There are better things to spend tax money on than guarding the feeble.

It's the areas close to NYC that give it a bad name. Most of the Hudson River crossings lead to industrial stench, but once you get past that there are plenty of nice areas.

I think non-violent people over 50 shouldn't go to jail.

Jail. Life in prison. Can you imagine? I'd rather go to the gallows.
