I don't know about the binging part, but in my experience those who start drinking early tend to avoid ****ty beers and drink better stuff. The follow up to that is that ****ty beers are drunk for only one purpose, getting drunk.

We should teach teens/society as a whole to appreciate good beers that are to be savoured - that would solve a lot of the problem.

What the hell is up with this:

Nearly 7.2 million are considered binge drinkers, meaning they drank more than five drinks in one sitting.

Are you planning on having children some day Ozzy?

If you do, will you level with us when you treat them like children?

Making things taboo certainly won't work in the big picture. There's always a middle ground though, it doesn't mean promoting drinking. Just like teaching about sex isn't the same as driving your son to a prostitute.

People are weird. These things are totally natural. But the relation to these natural things are often unnatural, thus resulting into abuse of these things.

I got to taste beer and wine as a kid, but show me the kid who likes that taste? It tastes bad, these are acquired tastes. If there's a peer pressure to start bindge drinking at the age of 12, well maybe the problem is the group of friends the kid hangs around with, not alcohol or getting to know what it is.

It's like blaming some movie as the reason their kid flipped out and killed a bunch of people, total excuses for a piss poor job parents themselves did, mitigating responsibility. And then there's always the "oops" factor, meaning that sometimes the person that did the thing actually was just drawn to do it somehow no matter what others did so... it was going to happen anyway.

I'd have to agree with the theory, abstaining = ignorance whereas experience = better judgement. Obviously if someone abstains for life they dont need to worry but for those who imbibe actually practicing moderation in childhood teaches a valuable lesson about responsibility.

Oh i agree definitely with most of the views expressed.
Let a kid murder early in life and get over it.
How in the world is a child to gain experience in all the taboo if you don't just stand back? ok...

Yes that's comparable. Everyone encounters pressure to murder in their life and for some reason there's no laws against it.

The same book of laws that prohibit undrage drinking?
                              BAH! Worthless.
Some people don't believe in drinking any, ever.
Can you believe that? They view it as a crutch that's not needed. Outlandish.
