Actually I have no idea. I guess, those people from NBC heard about the desaster at WTC and then they decided to move the ESB some metres to the left, before they went on air.

In your illustration we would see the corner of WTC1 from POV2. Not the front side, as we actually do. Also in this POV WTC1 would hide WTC2, as it appearantely doesn't.
The front side would only be able to be seen from POV1.

But take a look at the pictures: Two front side images of WTC1. Two frnt side images of ESB as well.
