Yep, I will defend those violently attacked any day no matter their opinion. By your arguement, it would be perfectly ok for Pat or I to get a bunch of friends and come over and beat your @ss (pls don't take this as a threat, I'm merely making a point) because in our minds you're really the evil person and that would be justice. It would be dead wrong and we'd deserve to go to jail for a long time. I would never treat you that way if I met you in person. I'd probably just nod and go about my way. Heck I'm even kinda sure that we only disagree on politics, but would probably find other things in common (Civ for instance). But don't be mistaken, I think your view is as evil as the racists you mentioned are. I hear nothing but hate from you and you advocate violence. Please tell me the difference? Oh ya I forgot, because you're right and we're wrong. You've got a PHD.

Agathon, stop calling posters racists. It weakens your point, you ignorant ****head.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

How about if a few hundred people riot and shout antisemitic slurs and kill an unresisting Jew?

So there's absolutely no equivalence here. Besides, one's race is something that one has absolutely no control over, unlike one's political beliefs or religion.

Don't see it. Sorry.

So is it that race baiting is unprotected speech, as opposed to disrupting a political forum, that beating someone up is less serious than tasering them, or just that police are held to higher standards wrt speech than private citizens are.
Im disturbed by hate speech, and also disturbed by hateful, rude disruptions of political discource. Im disturbed by tasering being a punishment for rudeness, and disturbed by beatings being a punishment for hate speech."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. Horrible as this is, how can this bunch of morons stick up for these six thugs? If the races were reveresed, this would be a hate crime. Moral of the story?
White racists
Black racists
White kid pulls shotgun on three black kids in black neighborhood, claiming "he felt threatened." Three black kids wrestle it away from him.
White kid not charged, black kids charged with battery and theft (of the shotgun). No trial yet - maybe that dumbass cracker DA is having second thoughts.
Total double standard.
The white kid who got beat ran his mouth. The whole thing happened after months of buildup from the first "newsworthy" incident, but you know that noose horse**** and white-only tree wasn't the beginning.
That nobody's gotten killed yet is a miracle, but as long as you have a policy to let the white pranksters and poor threatened white boys with shutguns skate, while coming down on the uppity ******s, you're going to just keep the heat on in that little pressure cooker until someone really loses control and someone really gets killed.
It's not a matter of defending those "thugs" - it's a matter of treating everyone proportionately and fairly depending on their conduct. Proportionate and fair doesn't extend to trying juveniles as adults without statutory authority, or charging multiple felonies against blacks while not charging whites at all for their criminal actions.
I went to schools in Texas and Louisiana that were still totally racially segregated long after Brown v. Board of Education. It's not just the specific incidents in Jena, it's a pervasive atmosphere and an in-your-face double standard of citizenship.Last edited by MichaeltheGreat; September 21, 2007, 16:31.When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. I can only go by what the article I found said and there seems to be a dispute among posters as to what really happened with the other incidents. It is obvious that their is a racist element at this school, it needs to be addressed, and the leaders need to be held accountable. I'd actually like to see Al Sharpton get involved in this one. This would actually be a legitimate campaign for him unlike some of his previous episodes. Regardless, it still doesn't make it right for black students to use violence to address their grievances. I'd love to see a hefty lawsuit however and even sanctions from the government.EViiiiiiL!!! - Mermaid Man
