Chopping a tree down didn't address the damn problem. It was stupid.

No, I mean they actually chopped down the tree that was supposedly the big deal.
All is fine now, the tree is gone. Real smart on their part.

I wouldn't construe it as a death threat per se becuase there's no specific target.
As was said, painting swastikas on a house would not tbe a death threat either, but its definitelly a hateful act, and not just "a prank" as was labelled by the Jena authorities.
Of course, for whites, nooses carry no significance, so they don't get it, unless of course they were the ones putting up nooses, who clearly "got" why they would hang that symbol.

I do need to find the facts to determine if they punishment meets the crime for the "Jenna Six", but as for the white kids who hung nooses from the tree, as racist as it was, it wasn't criminal, and it falls under free speech like burning a flag, so that's why I presume they got off so light (If I was in their class, I'd move to the far side of them however).
Freedom of speech does not apply to terroristic threats. It could be a terroristic threat even if it was not intended as a death threat.
Click here and here to find out how close the George Washington Bridge came to being blown up on 9/11 and why all evidence against those terrorists was classified. Click here to see the influence of Neocon Zionists in the USA and how they benefitted from 9/11. Remember the USS Liberty and the Lavon Affair.

Burning the American flag doesn't fall in that same category? Silly liberal.
Anyway, I'd normally let a thread on the 2nd page die, but I've come across new information about some of the other incidents mentioned in this thread.
It seems the white student who pointed a gun at black students because he felt threatened, had a chance to run away. In fact, he left to go get his gun. Instead of getting in his truck and driving away, he took out the gun and went to confront the black students.
It also appears that one of the Jena six may be innocent. One of them was actually a black student just standing by and never even saw the actual attack.
If both are true and without further evidence, I have no reason to believe they are not, then this is a miscarriage of justice. The police, the DA, and the whole system in Jena needs to be investigated and serious measures need to be taken. There is obviously deep seated racism in Jena. This does not change my point however. The student who was beat up by the Jena six (or 5) deserves justice too. The same news show (CNN) that I use as a source for the previous two stories, also said it is not verified that the white victim made any racial comments. He claims he didn't, his family says he's not that kind of person and there are no other witnesses other then the thugs who beat him up that can say he did (according to the news story). I have to give him the same benefit of the doubt that I give the black students.
