And what evidence if ANY do you have for that claim? The slate of his mentor lost in the elections for the Council of experts, members of his government have quit left and right. What evidence AT ALL do you have that when it comes to the different competing conservative cliques his is in favor? That Khameini still supports him?

Funny, coming from a liberal neocon who espouses the same silly messianism as Bush and Cheney. If she trully believes that this guy is getting too much attention, then write about something else.

As for it being "convinient", funny thing is, I treat opinion columnists with the respect they deserve, ie. none in particular more than anyone else who gives their opinion on a subject they are clearly not an expert in. Of course, if an opinion columnist happens to have some expertize on the matter, then I might care. Is Appelbaum an expert on Iran? On the ME?
