I just get tired of it. When presented with evidence you will still claim the opposite. Your Toronto debates are classic examples of this.

As for the article you posted, you do realize the politicians were trying to avoid taking blame for their misguided policies.
To summarize: Tinkai is right - everyone else in the world is wrong.

I love how the Conservatives are ready to help out Canadian companies. Their solution: Buy American.
    I won't defend that bunch.

    • Wezil: Why have are you disputing statements that you previously said were true.

You claim that I am wrong in saying a reason why the U.S. dollar is weak (and the Canadian dollar is strong against the greenback) is because of the Republicans spending money left right and center, and running up massive deficits.

Yet, you made that argument yourself.

You claim I'm wrong in saying that oil sales have inflated the value of the Canadian dollar.

Yet, you made that argument yourself.

      Very odd.

I didn't say they were wrong. What I said is that they are trying to deflect attention away from how their decisions influenced the exchange rate.

Or maybe they are just able to acknowledge reality.

          • Or you're swallowing the bait, hook line and sinker.

Paulson would have us believe that the massive increase in Canadian dollar relative to the U.S. dollar is just because the Canadian economy is growing far faster than the U.S. economy. Do you believe that?

And since you're constantly changing your argument, what exactly is your position. Or do you not understand the topic?

Alright Tingkai. Last time. I've wasted far too much time on you as is.

I said the dollar was strong and liable to stay there b/c the fundamentals were good (deficits, resources, etc).

You claimed this was not the case.

I posted article showing experts with knowledge in these things say the same thing as I had just finished saying.

              You claimed they were lying.

Can I make it any clearer for you?

As I say, this is your style.

              • Wezil: this is classic.

We both agree that the Republican spending spree and resulting deficit has weakened the U.S.dollar, raising the relative value of the Canadian dollar, yet you claim I'm wrong.

We both agree that oil sales have inflated the value of the Canadian dollar, but you claim I'm wrong.

You post an article with politicians making their usual political blah, blah, blah and you accept this as the gospel truth.

                Yup, definitely classic Wezil.

                  Bye.

                    • From what I've heard from friends in Ontario, shopping in the USA is cheaper anyway... due in part no doubt to the lack of GST.

When my dad went to Canada he was disgusted by how goods were priced. Not only was the GST not included on the price labels, but many places expected a tip of a further 15%. All published prices in Australia include GST... I don't see why Canucks shouldn't do the same thing.

Gotta hate that Dutch disease. Australia's got it too... though our dollar is only in the 80-90% range relative to the Greenback. In the late nineties it was around 50% though. But its certainly not just resource prices that are doing it... America has had relatively low interest rates for much of this decade... relative to Australia's at least.

Actually there has been some press on this. I'll post an article if I find it. Too lazy to type.

I'll post the article on prices in a bit.

I can see your point there... but it was confusing and annoying for a foreign tourist, like my Dad, to take a product up to the counter and then get charged more than he thought it cost. He thought he was being scammed the first time it happened.
