Well, this was a real mistake. I don't really care anymore. I am 5 weeks into a four month course that doesn't really apply to what I will actually do at all. Add that in to two months ago training I really didn't need either. Before getting to my unit I will have one two week course on something my unit has but probably won't take over. That's the extent of the formal training.

Well, it's been said Petraeus did not share any of the document before now...to anyone, including the white house and pentagon.

But, but, Reid and Pelosi said so...

          Hmmmmm...

No reations now that it is over? Petraeus and Crocker rocked it, not because they came down one way of the other but because of how they handled themselves.

In any case it is hilarious to watch CNN and MSNBC bend over backwards with their "buts."

The (very controversial) methodology they use to show attacks are declining was borrowed from the Pentagon.

So even if he didn't show them his report, they certainly provided the stats. And the graphs. Etc.

            This hearing was irrelevant.

              .
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Every single myth about how the Pentagon skews numbers was individually denied under oath by Petraeus (not counting car bombs, only counting bullets to the back of the head, etc.). Moveon.org has can't produce where they got it from, no news agency has taken issue with his denial of those methods (to include moveon.org's own spokes person on Hardball) as of yet.

What does that mean? That there are people who blatantly lied, and it isn't the military. Do you take issue with what Petreaus said as far as how they determine sectarian vice other violence?

In fact, does anyone care to challenge any of his testimony as not factual?

Moveon's substantiation (which towards the end is retarded, but the GAO report is an interesting read)

I don't care one way or another, really. There are bigger issues. Whether or not the surge is working now, it is clear to me that US needs to remain in Iraq for several more years before moving on to North Korea or Iran.

Huh? In the link I provide they cite the Washington Post, which is certainly a "news agency."

Not since Petraues flat out called them wrong, which is what I said. Do you honestly think CNN or MSNBC would have let him get away with that if it was actually false?

                        What an absurd argument.

Where did he outline the methodology and draw the distinction? What exactly did he say?

He flat out denied what moveon.org said and what the Senetor accused him of.

1.) That they only count people shot in the back of the head as a sectarian casualty.

2.) That the military did not count car bombings as sectarian casualties.

3.) That the GAO and military numbers are at odds.

The GAO and military numbers overall are relatively the same, the military simply broke them down further. As Petreaus threw in the face of the Senetor, the first casualty figure showing overall Iraqi casualties matched no only the GAO, but Iraq Body Count as well. Again, two hours later no media outlet has contridicted him.
