I'm for more responsible parenting and I'm against the government telliing us how to be parents or for parenting itself. Hillary and the Tories can KMA.

Personally I think that certain violent games bring gaming in general into disrepute, and are harmful to games we love like Civ. But im in the distinct minority here on that, and with 3 seconds of mentioning that someone will be going on about nukes in civ, or starving cities out, and how thats much worse than having a kid RP someone holding a gun and shooting it at a copOnly feebs vote.

Look, current governments are completely insane when it comes to rating things, so they should just keep out of it.
GTA wasn't originally rated as an adults only game, despite being replete with crime, prostitution, violence, drug use and murder. But once there were computer generated nude people having a good old shag, it suddenly merited the higher rating.
Let me guess, the worst results of the former acts are death, injury, social disintegration, and addiction; but the worst results of the latter might be some spooge stains and perhaps the bringing of new life into the world.
Censorship is completely ****ed up when kids are allowed to watch people blow other people up on a regular basis, but watching people blow other people is some major taboo.
****ing tory scum and their sexual neuroses...Only feebs vote.

Kids shooting other kids is 100% not to do with computer games in the UK. It is to do with bad parents, who themselves probably had bad parents, the scum that will sell guns to kids and lack of policing on the streets - stopping and searching people for weaponary, especially in dodgy areas.
Well, slap your restrictions on Cameron, kids are worse than most polytoners and don't BUY computer games, but download them, bypassing all rating restrictions and committing theft at the same time.

Or are you suggesting that placing MORE burdens on parents to fight the junk culture is what encourages parental responsibility, kind of the way laisses faire is good for character? Heck, lets ban ESRB ratings then, that wil FORCE parents to REALLY check what their kids are playing. Hell, lets be thankful to the purveyors of violent and semi-pornographic entertainment in general, since without them, parents would get lazy, and could spend more time engage in positive interactions with their kids, and less time saying "no". After all, its the saying no, that builds character, right? Makes parents tough, right? Instead of all that liberal huggy wuggy stuff. So lets give Rockstar and Snoopy Dogg Dogg (or whomever) Kennedy Center awards.I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara
For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

I really hope you're not talking about yourself here otherwise I'd hate to think about all those opportunities to teach PotM discipline being wasted and how much of a terror such a child would be for others.
and thats all I have to say. I really dont think my own child raising needs to be a topic."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. To become human, is what this individual person, has been created for.” Martin Buber

but one last thing first - the really ironic thing is that a certain poster who doesnt post here anymore insisted, also without having met me or my child, that I was an awful controlling parent, whos child would inevitably rebel as a result. Now Im being told that Im too free and easy a liberal parent.
basically if youre a parent you cant win. Everyone has to take out on you everything from their political issues with liberty, to their resentments about their own parents."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. Im not sure whether 'Gin Lane' was soley about Gin, or the wider situation. It was based on the notorious St Giles 'Rookery' in London which I believe had been a hell-hole even before the Gin craze. Gin was as much a symptom as a cause of the problems.
"The engraving is accompanied by these lines of verse, espousing the sinfulness of gin drinking;
Gin, cursed Fiend, with Fury fraught,
Makes human Race a Prey.
It enters by a deadly Draught
And steal our Life away.
Virtue and Truth, driv'n to Despair
Its Rage compells to fly,
But cherishes with hellish Care
Theft, Murder, Perjury.
Damned Cup! that on the Vitals preys
That liquid Fire contains,
Which Madness to the heart conveys,
And rolls it thro' the Veins. "
"Beer, happy Produce of our Isle
Can sinewy Strength impart,
And wearied with Fatigue and Toil
Can cheer each manly Heart.
Labour and Art upheld by Thee
Successfully advance,
We quaff Thy balmy Juice with Glee
And Water leave to France.
Genius of Health, thy grateful Taste
Rivals the Cup of Jove,
And warms each English generous Breast
With Liberty and Love!."Last edited by lord of the mark; August 29, 2007, 11:35."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human. To become human, is what this individual person, has been created for.” Martin Buber
