Meanwhile, throughout the video, Cole is trying to defuse the situation by keeping the "protesters" away from the riot cops, telling them to leave and telling one guy to put down the rock.

Actually, Cole seems to be trying to stir up **** once he thinks they are cops.

In fact, he could be said to be interfering with a police officer. He clearly has a guilty mind on the video in that he knows who they are and continues to confront them.

What was his object in doing that when they are clearly cops trying to get to the police line?

Look at 2:20. Until that point, everyone thinks they're protesters trying to attack the riot police line. After that, Cole and the union guys stop standing between the cops and the masked cops.

The police with rocks don't all appear to be trying to get to the police line. They seem to decide to go through the line after they are hassled sufficiently.

Of course the police should be interested. I'm just saying that everyone has the right to equal treatment. The police can be interested in anyone they feel the need to be interested in. They have rules to follow however when they suspect people and groups.

The whole video they are approaching the police line, and BB guys are following them.

I don't expect them to turn away because a union leader gets in their way. They handled the situation with remarkable calm.

Yep. Anyone in Canada who decides to start a group that advocates or practices political violence can expect to have the police pay attention to them.

We like our equal treatment quite well.

No. If they are trying to go through the police line there would be no confrontation. There might be some words. Also the video would be seconds long, not minutes. They spend most of the time standing still.

Anarcists aren't organized like neo-nazis or the KKK. Anyway, I acknowledge that if they were in a group (not just being a bunch of anarcists), and they advocated violence as political expression (as a group) that they could legally be infiltrated. Spying on a bunch of people who wear black should not be legal however, keeping with democratic principles.
