The announcement from the governor came six hours before the scheduled execution was to have been carried out, and followed a rare 6-1 recommendation of clemency from the Board of Pardons and Paroles. As a result of the governor's decision, Foster's death sentence is commuted, while his murder conviction stands. The Governor cited concern over the fact that Foster and triggerman Maurecio Brown were tried, convicted and sentenced together, and that Foster, if tried separately, might have been able to persuade a jury of not sentencing him to death. Brown was executed last year for his role in the murder of Michael LaHood during a robbery spree in which Foster acted as the driver of the getaway vehicle.
So if you haven't already, calm down - and try to find something else to whine about.
Thank god for that.
Foster is lucky that George Wanker Bush wasn't the governor. At least this guy was capable of seeing reason.
It's not like the line stopped moving because of him.
He just lost his place in line, and the line kept moving along. 400 is a historical footnote.

Apologize for caring more about him than the people he was convicted over.

See, I don't care about the dead person. I also don't care about the driver. I didn't know either of them; they don't matter to me.
But here's the situation. We have one dead person who was shot in the head. Presumably, he's underground right now. Not much we can do about that. Can't bring him back to life. Can't undo what happened.
And we have one living person who did some really, really stupid **** and is in part responsible for the death of that dead person. What can we do about him? We can kill him. We can lock him up forever. We can set him free. We can rehabilitate him. We can do any number of things. Most of these options are bad, I'd imagine, but at least we have options.
We can make something out of this deadbeat. We can't make anything out of the dead man.
We've got plenty of people without felonies that can dig ditches. In the long run the inmate just costs the state more money. The idea behind the death penalty is to deal out justice, not just deter violent crime. He/She is to be held accountable for what they did, not what they might. I suppose if they were to save more lives than they have taken there might be some social worth in keeping the POS around, but in reality this is wishful thinking.
Is this an argument over whether people can or cant be rehabilitated or facts that those that have been convicted set free and have thought to be rehabilited and then killed again and again. Since we have ben told nobody cares about the dead, but the crimminal thats still alive that has an crimminal background, cause we all know he has been rehabilitated, which is why he was involved in this crime

i guess my question is, is how many chances should this crimminal get before society decides he isnt gonna get rehabilitated. But then again there is always its my familys fault cause i was beaten as a child

The problem with this is that there is not, and has never been a decent argument for retribution as a basis for punishment. Sure, it's normal to want to hit someone who hits you, but there are many other things people normally want to do that are illegal for good reason.
The death penalty is just a euphemism for vengeance, and vengeance is not a sound basis for a penal system, because there is no decent argument for it.
The survey also included questions about Texans' confidence in different aspects of the death penalty. Three out of four Texans (74 percent) now support the death penalty for the crime of murder compared to four out of five (80 percent) in 2001. Only 18 percent oppose its use, and 8 percent are uncertain about their position.
