    Alright, it's a slow day. I'll bite.

We forgot the reason we went to war...

    Which would be?

I can't do this topic again, if anyone cares about what I have to say about this (and for the record I doubt anyone does) it can be found here.
"The DPRK is still in a state of war with the U.S. It's called a black out." - Che explaining why orbital nightime pictures of NK show few lights. Seriously.

        My question was for Shrapnel.

I know your reason - You hate lefties and seeing the US lose was their plot.

Before I answer, I ask you to remember I'm talking about our, the American public's reason. Those reasons are multitude: We didn't want Saddam to be able to threaten anyone with weapons of mass destruction, we didn't want him to help the terrorists, he was an evil dictator who brutalized his people, and we wanted democracy in the Middle East. Yes this is exactly the reasons Bush said we went to war. Even if Bush lied about why he wanted to go to war and even if that isn't his reason. It is still ours and it is still valid. If this were Bush's reasons as well, I believe we would have fought the war differently (or maybe not at all, but I still think it was inevitable) and with better success.

            Who was talking to you?

And "is" is the word your looking for.

No wonder then you are engaged in such a cluster**** now. Those reasons have been proven to be BS. Keep clinging to them if it helps though.

I do hope you are wrong about the democracy in the middle east and toppling brutal dictators, Shrapnel.

If you are going to invade countries for those reasons there are going to be a lot of wars.

I thought you were a wee bit sensative but it is a nasty issue....

Take a break and relax. May I suggest the Canadian way?

Need I point out that it was the Iraqis who lost the weapons, not us?

Plus, late-breaking TV news last night announced that 10,000 of them had been located. Only 170,000 missing weapons to go.

No the real BS is saying that those reasons are BS. Propaganda by both sides has confused and distorted the real truth. This is the "tearing each other apart" that I'm talking about. In efforts to discredit each other, both sides have downplayed and misinterpreted news stories that are contrary to their agendas. I am not going to do the research on every instance I'm talking about, but I will give you one example. Frustrating with not finding the huge cache of weapons they thought they would, the Bush administration began giving all kinds of excuses of how the weapons were smuggled out before the invasion into countries like Syria and Iran. Coincedentally these countries became the scapegoats for the failure of the war in Iraq. Now I might have bought Iran, but I never thought Syria was a major USA enemy. On the other hand, the liberals would have you believe no WMD were found at all, but there was evidence and sometimes old chemical weapons stock were found. I specifically remember one new report where a device used in the creation of nuclear weapons was found hidden in the backyard of a scientist. He confessed he was instructed to hide the device until the heat from the US diminished. Were there WMD in Iraq? Maybe, but probably not at the current time and there definitely was not an imminent threat (did any idiot actually ever believe that). Was there a plan in place to develop and mass produce WMD? I believe only a fool or someone with a political agenda would believe there wasn't. My stated reason is we went to war because we didn't want Hussein to have WMD, not that he had them and was about to use them. If Bush had gone to war for that reason, we would not have invaded as quickly as we did. We would have monitored the situation (being no imminent threat), gave diplomacy more of a chance, finished the job in Afghanistan, then invaded Iraq at the most opurtune time (I don't belive diplomacy would work, but I still would have tried).

The WMD "reason" has been thoroughly discredited.

If you think a rusty shell buried in a backyard justified what happened wrt the invasion then your thinking is seriously suspect.

As to WMD plans - So what? You guys didn't think it too big a problem when US supplied weapons were being used on Kurds....

                                Ask Rumsfeld.
