No, Kuci is totally correct, here. Most bottled water IS tap water. That why I think if you live in a place with a half-ways decent tap water and you buy bottled water to drink on a daily basis you are a moron. Bottled watter is pathetic, wasteful, and decadent.

No, it isn't a deal to people in Africa because it isn't their money. Just because person X has lots of money, doesn't mean anyone else is entitled to it, just cause he's poor.

Every dollar you own, is more than the usual african person has. Why not send him a dollar today?

It's the smashing-windows-stimulates--economic-activity fallacy. You're assuming that the money wouldn't otherwise be spend or saved (=invested) and that simply isn't true in 99.9% of the cases. Even if in those case in which the money would otherwise be retracted from circulation, the value of the remaining money stock would increase (=decrease in inflation). Buying "overpiced" goods, as opposed to buying "properly priced" goods or to saving, does nothing to help the economy.

I'm going to say I don't agree with JM completely. I have no problem with people spending all of their money on luxuries. I just have a low opinion of those who spend their money on things just to prove to other people that they had that money.
