    Cheney vs Oerdin

Anyone know what the line in Vegas would be on this one?

My money is on Cheney with or without the shotgun.

        Sigh.

The decline and fall of Oerdin.

You passed right through normal on your way from gung-ho to bat****.

Yep... it's againts the rules to personally attack another member of this site.

Last I checked, the VP isn't a member of this site. And if we restricted everybody who called for a politicians head, most of the people in this thread would be restricted.

So enough with the personal attacks. People are welcome to their opinions of politicians... even if they are moronic.

So enjoy, and enough with the attacking members.

Yes, one of my threads was deleted with no warning in the dead of night, again. I'd complain to the mod that did it, but I don't know who that is again. The last time this happened, I posted a thread asking what happened, but Ming threatened to ban me for that. I guess their behavior is unquestionable...

Yep... it's againts the rules to personally attack another member of this site.

I didn't insult another member of this site. I didn't even mention any names. I was just bringing up a serious liability issue that you, as a part-owner of this site, should take very seriously.

People are welcome to their opinions of politicians... even if they are moronic.

Calling for the assassination of the VP is a crime, Ming. You'd have to be pretty damn stupid to allow that type of behavior to continue...

Uh, last I checked making violent statements about government officials (even if there's no risk of actual violent action) is NOT a form of protected speech and may in fact be highly illegal. I'm trying to find a specific citation of the relevant law.

Edit: Not having much luck. The Sedition Act (covering the advocation of violent overthrow of the government) was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. And now that I think about it, Ann Coulter just a few days ago had said openly on Chris Matthew's Hardball that she wished John Edwards had been assassinated.

Keep looking... but you won't find anything. I highly doubt that what he posted would be considered a crime...

But what the heck, why should reality get in the way of your guys little witch hunt...

Here's a news article that I recalled upon reading Oerdin's comment that made me worried for his sake:

Arrest over Cheney barb triggers lawsuit

By Charlie Brennan, Rocky Mountain News
                        October 3, 2006
A Denver-area man filed a lawsuit today against a member of the Secret Service for causing him to be arrested after he approached Vice President Dick Cheney in Beaver Creek this summer and criticized him for his policies concerning Iraq.

Attorney David Lane said that on June 16, Steve Howards was walking his 7-year-old son to a piano practice, when he saw Cheney surrounded by a group of people in an outdoor mall area, shaking hands and posing for pictures with several people.

According to the lawsuit filed at U.S. District Court in Denver, Howards and his son walked to about two-to-three feet from where Cheney was standing, and said to the vice president, "I think your policies in Iraq are reprehensible," or words to that effect, then walked on.

Ten minutes later, according to Howards' lawsuit, he and his son were walking back through the same area, when they were approached by Secret Service agent Virgil D. "Gus" Reichle Jr., who asked Howards if he had "assaulted" the vice president. Howards denied doing so, but was nonetheless placed in handcuffs and taken to the Eagle County Jail.

The lawsuit states that the Secret Service agent instructed that Howards should be issued a summons for harassment, but that on July 6 the Eagle County District Attorney's Office dismissed all charges against Howards.

The lawsuit filed today alleges that Howards was arrested in retaliation for having exercised his First Amendment right of free speech, and that his arrest violated his Fourth Amendment protection against unlawful seizure.
He was arrested for criticizing the VP, which got conflated into an accusation of "assaulting" the VP in the course of a few minutes.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

I think there is a big difference to walking up to somebody and saying something vs posting something on a web site he will never see

Please post the law that you think he broke?

The person in the story posted was arrested on harrasement charge... because he personally confronted the VP. Not anything like somebody posting an opinion on a Forum...
