This should be multiple choice. But as for those I respect - all rigorous fields, all real sciences. And I have to admit that this entire hard science thing was an idea of the philosophers. Without them, human civilisation would have taken orders of magnitude more time to reach the point it has today. Philosophy "quickened" things up greatly.

Today, however, the mother of all knowledge is in dire straits.

    So I voted for mathematics.

plato, be careful. Some librul artist will soon tell you that philosophy is the father of mathematics.

I think syllogistic logic is still in the domain of philosophy.

How the bobbins can mathematics be more respected than medicine?

Medicine is a cornerstone of civilisation that brings hope to billions. Mathematics is ****ing with numbers.

Without that ****ing with numbers, no doctor could decide how much of what medicine to give whom, and when something is too much or too little, and none of the machines on which medicine is dependent would work, and.........

The question is academic discipline, not what they do outside of school.

Hardcore mathematics (that you get from people who study mathematics) is probably the hardest field out there. Medicine is much easier to study, by comparison.

Perhaps you did not understand the question.

You're trying to tell me that without degree-level mathematics we wouldn't be able to apply a tourniquet?

Without degree-level mathematics, we wouldn't have the quality of tourniquet we do today.

You're trying to tell me that they teach you about tourniquets in medical programs and this "academic discipline" is the one you respect most?

In your attempt to be funny you've basically outlined why it's not head and shoulders above the others. Medicine isn't very academically rigorous, it's more of a test of massive memorization.

A difficult question...it is very hard to distinguish between any of the sciences as they all have a positive effect. In terms of most immediate contribution I would have to give it to medicine.

Laz is a brilliant troll. But he lacks the passion, unfortunately. He could be the greatest, but he needs passion.
