        • More modern.

From somewhere quite dry, a mythical piece and the artist's name is hardly ever out of Dame Edna's mouth.

              This is amazing!
I was not aware of this painter, and work. Thank you for presenting it!

Argghh. Just realised that this must be a Group of Seven painting. Probably Lawren Harris.

And yes. Google image search gives me Untitled (Mountains near Jasper)

                I'm embarassed for myself.

BTW, continue with the current branch of the quiz. I don't want to come up with one.

                  • KH is correct. I would've thought every canadian would've known the style instantly. At least the brilliant clue should've given it away. The works of the group of seven are a true canadian national treasure IMO. I always go to see them in the national gallery when I visit Ottawa.

The artist has three names, the middle being a cute furry animal, which in America might make one first say O...

The painting is mythical, but is also a topographical guide to the area and indicates the weather.

The National Gallery of the country rejected the painting claiming the cost too prohibitive....

                      Another of the artist's works:

                      • Oh well. Poor Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri.

                        The painting was Warlugulong, 1976.

                        Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri:

                        Completely different.

The artist is associated with famous sculptor.

                        The room is in Paris.

                        The artist liked cats...

                        • The same artist had a more famous brother at one point, who was also an artist.

The Romans would have thought his first name divine...

The sculptor associated with the artist made burghers.

Gwen John it was. Her brother, Augustus John, was at one point better known and more highly regarded.

                              Things change...

Gwen John at the Tate Britain:

She was involved with Rodin when she lived in Paris.

                              One especially for you Varwnos.

The artist's eyesight has been questioned.

The artist is most often associated with a country not of their birth.

Ariadne's thread might help unravel this...
