yes, I meant not the same as in that the terms dont mean the same thing. Hasidim are a subset of UltraO Jews. the non-Hasidim, called Mitnagdim, (or Litvaks, or Litvish Ultra O if theyre Ashkenazi as almost all in North America are) tend to have different settlement patterns and different demographics. Their family sizes are a tad smaller (though still very large) they were earlier to accept some secular education for vocational purposes, they are slightly less likely to isolate themselves (they are at least comfortable living with "centrist" orthodox jews) and because they are not organized around religious dynasties, deliberate moves to create a new community, like Kiryas Joel, are much less likely for them (at least outside Israel)Originally posted by Colon™

This is maybe interesting re demographic: apparently about 40% of the children at schools in the Antwerp North hood is residing illegally in Belgium.
