This would make a great defensive tower. Windowless, smooth facade and if you junk those dishes it will probably have a sufficient roof-space as well. Not sure about the entrances.

Since I have a pilot's license I'd steal a Cessna at one of the local airports, loading with enough supplies to last as long as possible then fly to one of the off shore islands. That way I have miles of ocean between mean and the zombies.

The big problem with a tower is how you would escape if your defenses were breached. In a lower building, you could rope down off the roof as long as the entire building isn't surrounded, which is likely with a big-box retailer.

Small islands, OTOH, would be an excellent place to hide out, particularly if they have farms and wells.

I forget which movie (Dawn of the Dead?) but the escape-to-an-island trick failed miserably. The survivors all died shortly after they got there. Always assume others have gone before you with the same idea and had infected among them.

Apparently my weapons cache and living in a rural area helped some. I take a hit on the whole driving 20 miles secenerio cause I do have a family and I just can't leave them. All I can is that I hope the zombies are the slower ones from the eariler films because it seems they get faster and faster these days. Realistically a person alone won't last very long. Its always better to have at least two people on a constant watch than just yourself.
