What Did You Do BEFORE 'Poly...?

I was a 14 year old geek who had just gotten internet service and ran across 'Poly looking for tips for CtP1.

But before the internet, I got my kicks on local talk back radio and phoning people randomly to have a rant (before phone numbers were accessible to the call receiver).

I was reading people's e-mail, fighting aggressive dogs and building my master plan of becoming rich.

Wasted a lot of time on the internet, in forums and chatrooms... I do the same thing now, except without the chatrooms... Well, that and work. Didn't play too many games. Didn't have a whole lot of expendable cash as a high school student with no job. I found 'Poly looking for mods to Civ 3, as I had a teacher for a class who recommended I check out the game and I enjoyed it... but it wasn't quite perfect.

I don't fight dogs anymore. Dogs can't resist my karma. They know good people so they always come to me first and then go limp on the ground when the owners are trying to leave. You see, the dogs want to stay with me. I establish my superiority within _seconds_.

I don't even have to do mirroring to get them excited, I just watch them from the corner of my eye and they come screaming and wanting to serve me.

Alpha.owo the official alpha centauri boards is where I started out. And they pointed me to here. end of story. I posted there maybe 1 month before I started posting here back in 99.

I was also at alpha.owo (I remember YYYH's first post there), I posted less then 6 times even though I was there for months (I was a huge lurker for the first few years of foruming)

before that I played lots of games (including consol) and read lots of books

both things I still do

I also watched a lot of TV, which I no longer do

ahh yes i forgot about The Zone. I used to play Civ2 MPG there. i was there around the same time i joined 'Poly for the first time...
