It wasn't the parts that were defective, it was the design and installation by European engineers

Instead, the owner sits in the back smoking with his preternaturally young wife who you mistakenly refer to as his daughter, causing much embarassment.

        That's a great slowburner.

        KrazyHorse's irony:

Poutine: by its appearance, you'll think you've already eaten it.
        Yeah, it looks like vomit.

I didn't know it was basically french fries covered in cheese curds and gravy until I wiki'd it.

It also made me think of good ol' Vladimir, who so wants to be part of Euroland, so long as they all follow his benevolent Russkie leadership.

Who cares? It was a minor issue. And I believe the design was American...

I remember when the first McDonald's opened in Moscow.

The locals were shocked by its cleanliness. What does that say about their other restaurants?

Yesterday (or the day before ) we had reports here that the Anti-G8 protestors went en masse to McDonalds to eat there.

That was a little bit surprising.

I'd be lost. I hardly carry cash any more because everybody takes credit card nowadays in the good 'ole US of A.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
