Now that they're no longer a threat, we should have left immediately and let them have their little revolution. Then when they take power again and threaten us we go back and take them out. Much more efficient and safer for us.
it makes me uncomfortable to agree with this, but i know it's right.

Except for one thing: Iraq wasn't a threat the US. Iraq was contained.

Oh bah. Why bother? Silly thread anyway...

Actually in one way or another they were a threat, and intel indicated this. If you're going to try and say Bush lied and got us into the war for oil, then I suggest posting in one of the topics from 2003 or something, or better yet, moveon.org is waiting for you.

Explain this to me, because our army is an army of conscripts. Why the hell is there so much discontent among people in the US military? didn't they volunteer to basically be carriers of US policy?
What makes you think this is the case? It is not.

It is amazing to listen to civilians who have not experianced a hardship of any sort form this war ***** so much, and on behalf of the military who doesn't share their opinion no less.

Both sides do that though, hide their view behind the military, because otherwise they are just a buch of bystanders. I don't really care if they are bystanders, but they seem to since they go through so much effort to be "supporting the troops."

Your orignial post covered this, we THOUGHT (you can say your were duped into this opinion if it makes you feel better) there was a threats (and besides WMDs there were), one of which turned out to be wrong and all others eliminated. Job done, leave.

Which would have been possible had we not disbanded the army. That was a dumbass move.

Yeah, that really was a dumbass move. Then again, there's been a lot of dumbass moves. We need a stronger president, pure and simple. The Democrats are an absolute disaster and the supposed "conservatives" are only a step above the treasonous Democrats and liberals. There's really nobody in government willing to do what it takes these days. We need a revolution.

Honestly, the only really big mistake I think the Admin made post invasion is disbanding the army. Almost everything else can be linked to that decision, and I really don't see anyone doing anything different than this Admin in response to the **** storm that followed.

The Iraq war is just one issue. Bush has been very weak on other issues. Plus, our overly positive nature and desire to spread Democracy is taking away resources that should be used to maintain our lead over China; they're the true threat. The fact is, we've gone too far to the left and a lot of our capabilites are being gutted. I've read articles about the Chinese stealing technology and basically kicking our ass in espionage. I attribute a great deal of this to the 8 years of Clinton reign over the CIA. I also don't think Bush has been strong enough in combating issues like this. I would love to see a more militaristic society emerge that basically worships nationalism and the military. The economic engine that is the genius of America can't keep the overbloated and corrupt beaurocracy afloat forever. Revamp the political process and focus more on military, techonology (and the protection of new techonlogy), and the future of America rather than peace keeping and this internationalist bull****. I'm a fan of the Genghis Khan method: If there's a threat, eliminate it completely. If you have a great and loyal ally, reward it generously.

The army isn't going to be much help against China, at least I hope nobody things that.

In any event, I have gone over China's lack of military capability before.

You can have a very strong military following and nationalism without being Nazi Germany. Right now we are at a point where schools are teaching kids that the military is bad and the US is the root of all problems in the world. We need to work from the schools up and educate kids on how great this country is. We need to fight back against these people who are in our country and think US power should be scaled back. We need to make it so that people coming to this country want to join the cause and identify only with the US. The days of saying you are an American-[insert country here] need to end. In the US you are only American and your loyalty is solely with the US. Restart the melting pot, promote nationalism in our schools, keep the economy completely free and in fact remove many of the regulations in place, continue the tradition of a free society, but promote a strong nationalist program in the schools and possibly militarize the government in some ways.

You don't want the military running the government. If you give us money we spend it. Thats why you give it to us after all.

So guess what happens if we get all the money (and the tools to get more...).
