I remember March 2003 when You, personally You Pekka, were saying - they are moving too fast. They (US) have lost 100 soldiers already. At that time most of the people here creamed their pants about a "piece of cake campaign" and righteous crusade against teh Evil (blatant agression vs. an independent country). While I creamed my pants about - "this will end-up as f*ck up".

    Guess who was wrong?

    Liberators, my ass.

I see you didn't have enough cabbabe in your daily ratio... I hear you can make a complaint, it takes 110 years to process and you might get that ratio fixed after that.

I guess, you meant that US army moves too fast to Baghdad and that costs them additional casualties.
Anyway, my point was that you were very excited about that war, you did support that war and you did think that US will win that war.

YOU and MOST OF THE PEOPLE HERE, with whom I argued at that time, WERE WRONG!

              The end of story.

                1) Cabbabe?

                2) You didn't answer my questions.

Yeah, and I meant what I said. I thought they moved in too fast, not taking full control.

Guess what, they did take Baghdad. I wasn't the one who said that this will result into peace and happiness and that democracy will soon rain victorious. So, those parts were in fact true.

                    2) well, if you don't know the difference, you are seriously brain damaged. And could mean you didn't get enough protein as a baby and your brain didn't develop fully. Cabbage doesn't have much protein, but hey, it's better than nothing.

Thus, did you miss the daily ratio of cabbage?

to the OP: It's quite obvious that people who have their comrades killed in battle will be in a huge downer of a mood, to put it mildly. It's really no surprise.

To people in the states, generally: Explain this to me, because our army is an army of conscripts. Why the hell is there so much discontent among people in the US military? didn't they volunteer to basically be carriers of US policy?

I don't want to sound, I just really don't understand.
This is why I stopped supporting professionalization of troops in my country. I supported it before but I can see where it led the US. If US Army was still an army of conscripts US either wouldn't have gone to Iraq or would've been back very soon.

Many Americans probably think like you. "Some of my compatriots are dying in a far away country but hey, they're volunteers, why should I care?".

This then enables the politicians to play tin soldiers with the army on the world map

I don't see the difference between the US agression vs. Iraq of 2003 and the Soviet agression vs. Finland of 1939. In both cases there were brainwashing campaigns, explaining the reason for the invasion: "they can attack us!!!" and "they did attack us already!!!"
But in fact, both agressions have been carried out for the self-interests of the agressors.

Serb, yeah, but that's the way attacks happens pretty much always. Sometimes they work out and sometimes they don't and I'm talking about the pretext of war.

I can't think of two wars that were the same.

Which is fine, let them kill each other instead of us. As long as they're fighting each other at home then our mission is accomplished. It's not the role of the military to play nation builder and peace keeper, their job is to eliminate threats to the US. We thought they were a threat when we went in and we took care of it. Now that they're no longer a threat, we should have left immediately and let them have their little revolution. Then when they take power again and threaten us we go back and take them out. Much more efficient and safer for us.
