merging means that theyt are more tightly grouped.. that is a bad thing
How is that a bad thing, it makes them suceptable to spash damage. Though I guess it means you have fewer guns firing at them at once.

it is a bad thing because less things are shooting at it. in a fiven location, only a certain number of guns can fire

so if they are spread out, more guns are firing

I admit that if you have lots of spalsh damage, it might be good for land units

I build single target towers though (the first two ones)

I knocked out a quick 6948 to top the league. I love this game, someone got me hooked ages ago.

No, you can get round the bottom by the bottom exit.

I noticed on Hard you have to modify your stragetgy Mike H, and have one row doubled up. If you have all one row walls, when those spawn things split they can slip through towers that are exactly diagnal to each other.

Air is a much bigger problem on Hard too.

Yep, I tend to send them in straight lines rather than diagonals in hard mode. That said, my best score was a single line diagonals, but I blocked off the corners.

This was 5638 with 6 lives left on hard.

Note that in my final mazes, I've already sold off my swarm towers (2 fully upgraded in the centre) and used the money to upgrade my other weapons. On hard I won't even bother trying to kill the aerial bosses at the end and will sell the swarm towers after level 42 to build other stuff.

Do you never upgrade your pellets? They turn into nice Sniper towers though with a slower firing rate.

I have tried that, but found focusing on the Squirt towers to be more effective. The range of a sniper tower is good to nab that one guy who got through...

I've discovered that I can confuse the bastards by selling a pellet tower far away from them (thus unblocking another path to the exit) and then blocking the path right in front of them. Then they go back to try the open path. But when they are near it, I sell the pellet I used to block them originally and build one to block the exit near them. That way I get slow bosses to go up and down forever. The strategy isn't perfect though, as while I was playing with bosses some fast critters got through.

Vet that's one cool idea. Though one of the bosses who annoy me most is the flying one short before the end

Fully upgraded pellet towers, sniper towers, have a huge range so put some in the middle.

How exactly are the scores calculated? Though I killed all the creeps, I still only got 5806 points with this maze:
