I have two expansion slots for more memory and when the time comes I can buy a quad core to replace my dual core. As it is my current machine serves my needs well.

What is your current machine? Are you sure the mobo supports quad core?"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I don't think so.
The 9xxx version isn't going to be out til 2008-ish. That's a long time.
I'll upgrade to the 10k in late 2008.
Judging by Nvidia's giant lead on ATI in performance, I don't think we'll have to worry about Nvidia rushing out a new part."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

The GPU comes overclocked already.
I plan to overclock the CPU toat least 2.9GHz. Probably more, seeing as many people have gotten it up to 3.6 with the same cooler I plan to use."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Right now I've got a Samsung 931BW (19", 1440x900, 2000:1 contrast, 2ms response).
I'll play some games on that, other games on my 42" 1920x1080 LCD TV (it's about 8 feet from the computer...wireless mouse/keyboard...it works nicely).
I also plan to hook up the audio to my home theatre infront of the TV. The motherboard I'm getting has a chip dedicated to DTS encoding."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I'm still not a fan of the relatively low resolutions of all of the 21-22" monitors. I'm going to wait until the 24" 1920x1200 monitors drop in price (they're overpriced right now), pick one of them up. I'm spending enough right now on the computer itself.
1680 x 1050 on a 22" is actually effectively a worse resolution than 1440x900 on a 19"."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Plans change.
Milton 3.0 is born. With some changes.
Case: Antec P182: One awesome case [No change]
Powersupply: Now a Corsair HX620, very cool modular powersupply. Can't even hear it. [Changed]
Mobo: Motherboard: ASUS Striker Extreme [No change]
CPU: CPU: Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 [No change]
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS9700LED [No change]
GPU: EVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra [Change from GTX]. The Ultras are a new chip stepping, A03, which can clock much higher and has faster shader clocks for every core speed. Got a great deal on this, was cheaper than GTX OC's.
RAM: 4GB Mushkin XP2-9200 (change from OCZ 8500). Faster!
HDDs: 1 150GB Raptor 10k RPM, 1 750GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 [Change: No RAID, added Raptor]
Overclocking? Damn, this thing is a beast!
CPU
Frontside bus: Increased from 1066MHz default to 1150MHz to sync it with the memory speed.
Clock multiplier: Increased from 10 to 11.
Result: 2.66GHz quadcore to 3.16GHz quadcore
To test it I ran SuperPI on loop overnight. It peaked at only 46 degrees celsius! Also ran Nvidia's stress testing for 4 hours, no problems at all.
GPU
Core: Increased from 612MHz stock to 648MHz for now (going to try higher later with increased voltages)
Memory Increased from 2.2GHz to 2.3GHz
ZOOM ZOOM! I only have 1 GPU instead of 2, but I plan to add the second when I actually need it when the prices of the 2nd are much, much cheaper. Right now an 8800 Ultra runs everything at max at hundreds of fps..."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Why an extra 150 GB Raptor? You could probably make it 200 GB with a very small price increase.
And so how much did it cost you in the end?Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

No one carries 200GB Raptors around here, at least. Do they exist?"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
