            What specifically do you think will be able to take good advantage of your quad-code processor? I'm talking when you put the machine together, not two years later. Media encoding?

              Media encoding, for sure.

              New games are multithreaded also, eg Supreme Commander.

                    It's an okay game.

                    The thing is, it'll be standard practice for DX10 games to be multithreaded. It makes sense to go quadcore over dualcore, considering their price is so very close and the performance is night and day different...

                          Hm, I recently "upgraded" to Phoebe 1.5, i.e. I picked up a new motherboard (MSI Neo2), a new CPU (AMD Athlon 64, 3200+), and a new videocard (XFX GeForce 7600GT, 256MB) for about 250 euros

                            I upgraded to Milton 2.1 about a year ago. Swapped the Radeon 9800 Pro (top of the line when I bought it) for a GeForce 7800 GS CO Superclock, and added 1GB of RAM to make it 2GB from 1. It extended the life a good year.
