Yeah, but they also had the Italians. The detremental effect of an Italian alliance more than canceled out any benefit derived from Germany's various Eastern European allies.

Napy had the Italians as well, IIRC. So the Nazis had to drag them along with the wanna-be Germans in other places. Just goes to show that not much changes over time.

Hopefully the EU never gets too adventuresome with the 'new' Germany.

The allies Nazi Germany had in WWII were laughable and pathetic compared to the Allies Napoleon had.

That's why I maintain they practically fought alone. There are more reasons to say so.

To continue this you'd have to clarify what you mean by imperialist. The US and Soviet "imperialist" machines continued unabated.

I said it once and say it again: if it weren't for the Germans we'd all speak Latin today

Oh, Ecthy. You mean without those Hungarian, Rumanian, Spanish and Italian contingents on the Eastern Front ?

Let alone the Dutch and Flemish S.S. volunteers, Austrians, Croats, Slovaks, Slovenes, Bosnians, French et cetera.

Yeah, and I already refuted it because those were sh!t allies. The German states etc. served Napoleon better than those pesky Hungarians Romanians and Italians. The Finns put up a proper fight but foight for themselves really, a bit of a zero sum issue.

Germans could have taken Moscow the second go round but they took Stalingrad instead, for the oil. I suppose they should have taken Moscow and then went for the oil.

French and Germans working together took Moscow. Huh. Interesting Ecthy.

The Prussians were not such good French allies but the Rhine states helped some. Lets not forget the Poles...

By Napy's standards, not many of the allies came close to the experienced regiments of the French army.

It's sort of like the Rumanians to the Jerrys in 1942. Lots of bodies for the meat grinder, but not troops you would want to have to count on.

Most of the allies bugged out on the road to Moscow, yes? Smart allies.

It really is fascinating how anti French some Americans get, to the point of being Anti Napy, and siding with the despotic scum that was Russian monarchy, and the British, who spent those years burning down the capitol of the US, FFS.

I bet that 7 out of 10 Americans wouldn't know who Napoleon was if they were asked about him. 8 out of 10 wouldn't know that he lead France.

To many, nothing significant happened in European history between the fall of Rome and December 11, 1941, when the U.S. goes to war agasint the Nazis. The rest is just a vague blur of kings and queens.
