LordShiva, have you heard of the Cold War and certain treaties resulting from it with the aim to prevent potential armament races? Not that the deterioration of this would be of any concern now, but it might be in the future and this is the foreplay to future conflict. Cutrrent behaviour of Russia, as feeble and pathetic as it may seem, is definitely not improving chances of tranquile resolution of future interest clashes.

I'm deducing from the prolongued discussion of IRBMs at the end of the article. that this ICBM is designed to replace Russia's IRBMs. It could be that Russia's IRBMs are not MIRVed but that this new ICBM is.

Ecthy, that's a great idea. We'd just issue the state of war, bring everyone to their respective starting positions only to find out that since the time of practicing for it, everyone has gotten fat and lazy, and quite frankly have lives. Even the ones without lives would rather stay home and watch Big Brother.
On the other side, however, I'd assume some of the guys are itching for some action, I mean why have the forces for standing down... plus the prospect of stealing our iPods is just too damn lucrative. I figure we could go as far as the roads take, but when we'd have to walk, there'd be complaining and *****ing and we'd end up fighting each other, true internet forum style.
Then someone would notice, hey, we didn't get any allies. That would have been a nice thing to do first. But no worries, since the defendor is drunk and beating their own troops to 'make them tough'. So we recruit 10% of them just promising we won't beat them on our side, plus free iPods. We'd get in deep trouble though, since the first guy who sobers up would prolly jam the GPS, so we have to rely on maps. "Has anyone actually used maps in the past 10 years? ****! We don't know how to use these!". So we prolly steal some from the 10% who came to our side, but their cartography just sucks so bad that the maps are from 1930's. So as we dismount the vehicles, half already lost their weapons at the last coffee stop and piss break, we'd actually have to walk. No way dude. For what? At some point, the rest of the defendors will sober up.
The point of no return won't be reached, because most of the guys refuse to go further, because the cell phones aren't working anymore. The frequenices are filled with crap now, so basically we have the alternative to go on and do some battle, gain 0, or go back home and play Call of Duty 2.
And our liberal commander will let us take a vote, and so we return. At most, we penetrated about 10 kilometers. We left more money in the country than we stole, since people bought stuff from vendors and kiosks. They thought it was some kind of re-enactment anyway, so no one was even suspicious. SO we returned because the roads started to suck.In da butt.

From what I heard (the exact data about missile is still classified, of course). RS-24 is a replacement of Soviet MIRV ICBMs Satana and Stiletto (that were NATO designations).
It's mobile (just like Topol-M), not silo-based (like Satana) that makes it harder to detect and kill and provides a certain degree of flexiblity for our strategic missile forces.
In addition to MIRV and advanced ECMs, its main feature is that it's fast as hell and starts to manouver neraly after the launch (at hyper speeds). No other ICBM in the world can do that. It also uses a random trajectory to reach its targets. So, it's not possible to intercept that missile.
Have a nice day.Last edited by Serb; June 4, 2007, 20:47.
