The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.

Now, if you want any further data then you can go find it yourself. I don't feel like doing any more research for a bunch of people who would rather pull things out of their asses than actually get the real numbers.
No, I quite understood what you meant. Given that you know that Greater Dee Cee is diverse, in a way Dee Cee isnt, and given that (surely) you know I know it, Im surprised youd quick read over that and assume I meant the cities proper.
As for pulling things out of anywhere, I made no assertions about the relative diversity of the two cities, I merely asked the question.

These posts are getting too testosterony.
Typical liberal arts weenie, shying away from manliness.
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "
I always had the impression that ottawa was sort of off by itself... kinda like Canadians decided to put all the scum in an isolated area and stay well clear...
Numbers confuse the liberal arts posters. As does English, apparently.
Tons of millions of ethnicities, a fascinating evolution of the tongue called "english"

It's fine, it just assumes a lot of the reader in terms of comprehension. The phrase wouldn't be found in the children's books you read, such as Letters from Rifka or Holiday Tales of Sholom Aleichem, but that doesn't mean it's invalid.

I actually knew that DC proper is pretty much either poor black or rich white. I know hardly anything about the surrounding counties other than that they are rich. Alexandria is the only suburb of DC I've spent any time in, and it seemed pretty much whites only to me.

The NYC rumble was more entertaining than this.
It's called the "LOTM effect".

The city of Alexandria is about 20% african american, with significant numbers of hispanics, and a significant number of of other immigrants as well. You probably never left the core of Old Town, where most of the folks on the streets are tourists.
Dee Cee proper has large numbers of middle class blacks, esp in the 4th ward.
Prince Georges and Prince William County are far from rich, ditto the Wheaton area of Montgomery, and several sections of Fairfax.

Going back to the Panama comments on page 3 I'd just like to say Panama was a very nice place. True, it was divided between haves who had everything and have nots who have virtually nothing but Panama City is a very nice place. The old city (the old Spanish colonial part of town) was very lively and I loved the architecture complete with several stone Spanish fortresses were the old cannons were still in place. It was also the largest banking center in Latin America so there was lots of money for the educated people in that field or for people working in trade especially along the canal. The problem was the poor people had very little; the farmers or average shop owner had enough to buy an old used car if they were doing well but that was about it. The place certainly had a buzz about it and people were working hard to improve their lots in life. It's a nice place to visit.

I think it's true, which makes it pretty funny.
It's not a particularly complex sentence, and you had lots of problems with it. It took three or four explanations for you to get the lightbulb over your head.

Fairfax county is 17% non-Latin American immigrants, 7% Latin American immigrants. Total is slightly more than Ottawa's proportion (~21% of all types).
By the way, you certainly won't see anybody from Canada proclaiming the diversity of Ottawa...
