No one expects Texans to be smart.

The United Nations has defined Toronto as the most ethnically diverse city in the world. According to the 1996 census, there were at least 1,000 inhabitants from each of 106 different countries.

Toronto has the world's second-highest percentage of foreign-born residents, after Miami. While the latter's foreign-born population consists of mostly Cubans, Latin Americans, and Haitians, no single nationality or culture dominates the immigration here

I thought Seattle would be the obvious choice. Not too long a drive to see 4 Flames games per year.

I'd personally pick London, but then again I really like the Britain for some reason. (I was going to say England, but I like Wales and Scotland too.)

When the UN general assemby is in session there's over 1000 people from each of 106 different countries on the east side of midtown? And they then stay there on a permanent basis? That's quite the expansionary bubble.

No, but what if there are 500 people from each of 150 countries? Or 2000 people from each of 95 countries? Or 900 people from each of 106 different countries, but countries that are more geographically dispersed around the word?

It's a silly measure, and a flawed attempt to quantify a quality like cosmopolitanness.

Hence the "in terms of cultures represented and languages spoken" qualifier in my original post.

You seem to be under the impression that I'm claiming Toronto is a "greater" city than London or New York - I'm doing no such thing, and would never dream of doing so.

If the country is full of arrogant homosexuals you should feel quite at home then.

Total number? Possibly. Toronto has a higher percentage of foreign born than does Los Angeles, however. And it's almost certain that its foreign-born population is more diverse than that of LA.
