Wiglaf, Of course. It's not like he killed anyone of my relatives or stuff like that. I'd understand happy feelings, as in payback time. That's a very human feeling even if it's kind of ugly, but you know, I wouldn't blame a person for that.

But some old man dying who never personally hurt me, even if he hurt others.. man, I just don't care. It's over, that's what it is. We're all going to die, it was his time now, it'll be our time at some point and that's just a fact.

You're such a cute li'l troll. Perhaps brother Jerry wouldn't have run his ****ing mouth if he'd read Ma'alim fil Tariq and learned a little bit about what the terrorist *******s (at least that probable majority who follow teachings derived from al Qutb) consider "immoral" and "decadent."

Falwell, whether through total ignorance or malice or a little of both, decided to implicate his own ideological targets in the terrorists' motivations, whose concept of western decadence and immorality is so far removed from any norms of western thought that they don't see any difference between an ACLU card-carrying feminist cross-dressing queer and a Gawd-fearing evangelical suburban housewife who feels entitled to go out of her house uncovered and without being escorted by a male relative to buy groceries.

                HEY!

                EVERYBODY NEEDS TO CHILL.
And Wiglaf... one more personal attack on ANY member of this site and you will be toast yet again.

While it is not proper on this site to WISH anybody dead, it is OK to give opinions on the subject.

People should show a little respect for the dead and tone down their glee... and Wiglaf needs to stop posting before I make that decision before that.

Hey if McCain can bury the hatchet...

McCain first out of the gate with Falwell condolences
                  By Sam Youngman
                  May 15, 2007
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was the first of the major Republican presidential candidates to issue a statement of condolence following the news that the Rev. Jerry Falwell had died.

“I join the students, faculty and staff of Liberty University and Americans of all faiths in mourning the loss of Reverend Jerry Falwell,” McCain said in a statement. “Dr. Falwell was a man of distinguished accomplishment who devoted his life to serving his faith and country.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Falwell’s family at this difficult time.”

McCain’s statement comes at the end of a tumultuous relationship between the two men.

In the 2000 presidential campaign, McCain described Falwell, founder of the Moral Majority, and other evangelical leaders as “agents of intolerance.”

But last year, the senator gave the commencement address at the reverend’s Liberty University, a move that was perceived by most to be an olive branch extended before McCain again took to the presidential campaign trail.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) appeared to be the second candidate to issue a statement.

“In a democracy, I realize you don’t need to talk to the top leader to know how the country feels. When I go to a dictatorship, I only have to talk to one person and that’s the dictator, because he speaks for all the people.” - Jimmy Carter

Yep, sure is, and I don't know how many times I referred to the fact that I live in Falwell's town. It's nice to know that people pay attention.

I've been receiving calls from people asking for Valiums all afternoon long. I swear, some people, any excuse what so ever.

Your quotation of Ming overlooks the line: "People should show a little respect for the dead and tone down their glee."

I find it ironic that most of the posters in this thread are spewing more hatred than even Falwell did.
