PH, anyway, I'm not in a hurry, if I don't get that spot, it's OK. I still have a job until the end of the august. I'm not actively seeking anything actually, but opening was just very interesting so we'll see.

You're in a similar situation I am in. I enjoy what I do, but I know that by the end of October I could be sent back to the previous job I was in, and I am not prepared to take a backwards step. So I have to start looking for other positions too using my newly found experience. People told me at the end of my degree I should go into IT and not science but that burning desire from my childhood drove me to go into science. In the end, it was a mistake. I now have an 'exit strategy', as they say

Hehe, well I studied a hard science which could lead me to a career in that area but I managed to get out before it was too late!

The sad reality of careers in science is that they really just tend to be stepping stones to something else...those who remain in it are very committed.

Well, IT is a very much competed field. You really have to be able to distinct yourself if you want to score. Then again, it's possible, but it means you need to set up your own business and make a killing or become a consultant (a good one). You aren't going to advance in an organization to a position where you are paid very well, usually those types are the business oriented people with business degrees.

Of course there are exceptions and lots of them, but my point is, I've changed my view completely about where the money is. I was fortunate enough to be fascinated and passionate about security though
