Starship Troopers was amusing. it's not a movie I have any desire to watch. If i'm flipping through the channels and it's on, I'd probably find something better to watch.

It would especially be bad on regular tv where you don't get the tittie scenes. The only thing that made that movie watchable. The humour was pretty cool though. I loved the fascist stuff. I didn't care for the action scenes.

Definitely not the worse movie ever. Not even close.

Have we really forgotten about Battlefield Earth?

I was smart enough not to watch that film.

It's fun to analyze stupid movies. Granted they had no idea a techie with a mac could bring down their shield, so they had not reason to attack the military bases first. But if they had, there would be no planes to take their ships down.

And yes I feel like they stole from War of the Worlds. A virus killed the aliens in both.

It's basically a sci fi movie dumbed down for the masses. But I like this movie better than a lot of other dumbed down movies. Some movies are just too dumbed down.

So the aliens use the resources and move on. So perhaps that was their reason for not sending ateroids in. They don't specify which resources. Cities of course, are crap. No reason not to destroy them. It gets rid of a lot of humans (and nuisance) so they can go about their work of stripping the landscape. I'd imagine it involves strip mining, and getting what they can out of the atmosphere before they leave. They might need vegetation as well for drugs and chemicals, so that's why asteroids are out.

Although it doesn't explain why they sent some of their fighters out to die needlessly, when we couldn't break their shields (with weapons) on any of the big ships.
They were using a pirated version of their OS, so MegaSoft updates for security wouldn't work. Therefore they had to wipe out our ability to fight before someone thought of emailing them a virus that would crash all their computers and make them defenceless.

I liked the movie Independance Day, but what I really didn't like it was after world communications were knocked out and finally through Morse Code the nations were able to communicate with each other the universal response was "Finally the Americans are going to save us". I nearly gagged then and still gag now, just thinking about it. Without that line the movie would be ranked higher in my books. Typical American BS propaganda, where would the world be without us?

You know, it would be harder to lift a telephone booth with your average fat American in it than it would be to lift the same telephone booth with the average Frenchman in it. Maybe I'm not as awesome as I seem...

The Americans have by far the most powerful military on earth. As such, they would be the natural leaders of any resistance to an alien invasion.

Is it painful for a "Frenchman" to admit that?

Not particularly. I suspect I get more benefit out of the money we spend on our top-notch healthcare system then you get out of the money ya'll spend on your top-notch military.
