IMO Ridley cleaned up certain scenes a bit too much and the movie lost some of its feeling because of that. And 'butchered' might be too strong a word, the changes doesn't leap out at you. But I still prefer the original version...

I saw Donnie Darko recently on SBS (local TV channel that usually screens non-US foreign stuff). A bit too weird for my tastes.
Also
Laputa (thismovie) (this was quite good) (SBS has been screening Hayao Miyazaki's Anime's)
Mostly Martha (No Reservations is a remake of this movie.) (also on SBS)
Ghost Rider (only good part was Spiderbait's song in the closing credits)There's no game in The Sims. It's not a game. It's like watching a tank of goldfishes and feed them occasionally. - Urban Ranger

I just watched District B13. This was a non-stop action flick. French rappers and gang bangers in american jock garb. Story was a little stock, but what action flick isn't?"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

done watching Conan the Barbarian on Max just now.
Cheesy 80's movie greatness
I'd rather watch this film than lord of the rings. I like my bad guys to look like they belong in an 80's metal band.
It's funny how cheesy movies you liked as a kid are still so enjoyable today. Kind of like Star Wars.

Just finished watching "No Country For Old Men".
Very good movie. The urban hunting scenes are among the scariest scenes I've ever seen in a movie. Chigurh is an excellent villain; just the right amount of character exposition mixed with unrelenting stalking.
But the ending was hard for me to accept though."lol internet" ~ AAHZ

The main differences I could remember between Director's Cut of Aliens and the normal cut were:
Ripley has a scene where she sees a photo of her daughter, who has grown old and died in her absence from Earth.
The Aliens pack-hunt the survivors early on in the movie when they're sealed in a room. The survivors set up autoguns to fend them off, with limited success. (Parts of this scene may have been in the original release, but it wasn't nearly as significant timewise as the DC version.)
Bearing in mind it's been about 15 years since I saw the DC version and about 6 since I saw the original release version."lol internet" ~ AAHZ

The somewhat accurate portrayal of religious-right people in this movie was one of the frigtening elements in this movie.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
