I thought it was pretty good in that I've-heard-of-this-movie-but-have-no-idea-what-to-expect-oh-that-was-different-and-actually-pretty-decent sort of way. Don't know that it bears multiple viewings.

I thought Maggie Gyllenhaal's performance was excellent and definitely deserves multiple viewings.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

I think Donnie Darko is grossly overrated
In a funny, moving and distinctly mind-bending journey through suburban America, one extraordinary but disenchanted teenager is about to take Time's Arrow for a ride. After surviving a freak accident, Donnie (Jake Gyllenhaal) begins to explore what it means to be alive, and in short order to be in love, he uncovers secrets of the universe that give him a tempting power to alter time and destiny.
83% doesn't seem too overrated. The film wasn't exactly a success either, so most americans don't like it. It's more of a cult hit..

Saw No Country for Old Men last night. I was incredibly frustrated by this movie, but I think that was the point. So much of it was done right - the mood that was set, the beautiful cinematography, the realization of these characters - but it was ultimately unsatisfying due to the snail-like pace and the complete and total lack of a climax or any sort of dramatic tension.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

Yes, I believe that was the point (somewhat), though I have yet to watch the movie or read the book. It's more of about a journey rather than "what happens in the end"! Kind of like an anti-Da Vinci Code .“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

American Gangster.
Good story. Length could be smaller (although in this age of 90' movies i guess it's ok) Washington and Crowe ok but nothing specialCo-Founder, Apolyton Civilization Site

btw, from wikipedia
In June 2005, Crowe was arrested and charged with second degree assault by New York City police, after he threw a telephone at an employee of the Mercer Hotel who refused to help him place a call when the system did not work from his room, and was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon (the telephone).
so according to law, any kind of thing you throw at someone is instantly considered a weapon and you are charged with possession of it (as opposed to being charged for throwing it)??Co-Founder, Apolyton Civilization Site

I just saw Mindwalk.
It reminded me of My Dinner with Andre. It was, John Heard: a poet, Sam Waterston: a politician and Liv Ullman: a quantum physicist discussing quantum physics in layman's terms. It was pretty interesting."In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

In the last couple of days I've seen:
War of the Worlds
Sunshine
The man from earth
The first two are crap, with War of the Worlds being so utterly bad watching experience that I was surprised to see that it was directed by Steven Spielberg, whose movies are usually OK.
The man from earth is a cool movie.

I can't believe anyone hasn't posted about the release of the final cut of Blade Runner. It is superb.
And there's a really good Irish movie called Once that is now out on DVD.
And anyone who hasn't seen the Blu Ray release of 2001: A Space Odyssey is missing out. It's so good that you can actually read all the text on the computer terminals.Only feebs vote.

One thing though: I still believe that Sean Young in BR is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in a film. Pity she's crazy IRL (and the whole Replicant thing is a turn off).
I like the movie so much that I've ripped it to play on my iPT so I can take it anywhere.Only feebs vote.
