I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Captain Jack. The other 2 probably,

Orlando Bloom is on the record as wanting out, but Johnny Depp is down with continuing the series.

Too bad, as this was the only one of the three where Bloom's character had any depth. The guy can actually act a bit -- something about which I had my doubts.

I'm thinking the series will continue with the young pirate son of Keira Knightley and Bloom, being taught the ropes by a grizzled Capt. Jack.

I thought he did a great job as Legolas -- especially since it was his first job out of acting school.

          Blazing Saddles.

ZOMFG, Mel Brooks needs to be shot.

I hope Pirates of the Caribean 3 is better than 2. I saw 'Dead man's chest' recently and it sucked.

Rent "The Last King of Scotland" instead. Forrest Whitaker is amazing.

I think I'll go see "The Lives of others" soon. My friends told me its a great movie. It has a score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

PotC 3 is not a bad film all things considered. I liked it, and I think it was worth watchng as I went with my friends. It is not a film that I would go to the cinema alone to see though.

I saw The Last Samurai recently.
I liked it Tom Cruise was quite good in that film, which probably is a bit rare.

The actual movie went downhill pretty fast though, imo. I mostly was into it during the first part, up until Cruise gets caught by the Samurai.
While the film relied predominantly on some isolated sequences of climax, as in the testing of the untrained soldier, or the samurai distrust of the foreigner, the beginning seemed to be well-crafted with the career-soldier having been pushed to the side as an act for a rifle salesman.

Overall the movie did not manage to be that characteristic as a war film, and was probably very general as a presentation of Japan in the era of its industrialisation, something which would have been more obvious if it was not about a generally alien culture to most.

Having read one book about the Samurai (which of course makes me an expert ) i was not happy to see them as idealised. The caste system in Japan had produced quite a few insane personalities in the Samurai order, and none of them were in this film, where the Samurai leader is depicted as a sort of "noble savage".

Officially the weirdest movie that I've ever heard someone seriously declare it's inferiority to the book.

I just saw 'Tsotsi'. Very good movie, IMO. Its about a South African thug living in the ghetto.

I also watched disc 2 of season 2 of 'Entourage'. I really don't understand why no one is watching it round here. Its a great show.

showtimes was just showing Reefer Madness today. I missed the first part, but I think I got the gist of it. Perhaps the film would have been better viewing it while high. It wasn't that good, but it was a bit humorous. I always wondered where the lady screaming jumping through a window bit came from.

Reefer Madness isn't even very funny stoned. I don't know how kids were able to stand drug propaganda back then. Now they've actually made it funny, while really undermining their own message.

Anyway, recently I watched David Cronenberg's Crash (not the recent one about race and bull****, but the 1996 one about car crashes). It's ok. I get the feeling that the Ballard novel would be much better. It definitely deserved the Cannes award for being the most unique or whatever. Really it's only a worthwhile watch for a Cronenberg fan as it's his most controversial movie.

I saw this and liked it a great deal. I was sympathetic towards the pedophile though. He was obviously a messed up and creepy guy, but the teenager was just ****in' nuts; I had very little sympathy for her.

Being sympathetic towards a pedophile is probably not an admirable quality, but this was an independent film from filmmakers that wanted to get people to think about things, so that's kind of the point.
