EoN...there is nothing wrong at all with drinking in moderation. I agree, people definitely overdo it and drink purely with the intention of being sh*tfaced. Personally I like a few nice beers, also acts as a nice 'social lubricant'

Besides, now I am off shifts I have far more tolerance to the stuff than I did. After a week of earlies, two or three beers and I was gone.

I'm guessing that you've never had a drink before (maybe you're not old enough to drink or, even worse, maybe you're Mormon )

Getting a buzz doesn't make you wake up feeling like **** in the morning. Getting drunk does, but getting drunk takes effort by most people. I have to drink 12+ beers in a night to even feel a bit rough the next morning, and moore than that to truly feel like crap.

A relaxing beer or two is great any time, as is a glass of wine. A margarita at the beach on a hot and sunny day is heaven.

I used to drink all the time. Party several nights a week. It gets old after a while and you quickly realize there's no point to it. I would much rather spend my money on something more useful these days.

A lot of people like it for that...because they're weak and they need a social crutch to make up for their inability to interact with others.

Hey EyesOfNight, are you a straight edger or something?

Talk to any of my friends...they will tell you I certainly don't lack ability to interact with others with or without alcohol.

There's a difference between drinking some alcohol and partying and binge drinking multiple nights a week. I agree with you that it's poinless to party several nights per week every week. It's a bad habit to get into, as it's destructive.

Drinking moderate levels of alcohol is a matter of preference. You may say that it's a waste and pointless, but it's really no more or less pointless than choosing to eat some potato chips or ice cream (actually, alcohol has health benefits that other snacks don't have). It's spending a moderate amount of money in order to get a moderate amount of pleasure. If that's an illegitimate way to spend your money, then most expenditures are pointless wastes of money.
