The Jim-Karen reunion was great (as was the scene at the end showing Jim's first meeting with the Finer Things Club.)

For Americans it probably is - the subtle humour of the original doesn't translate well to some countries.

                Oh please.

That line is getting tired. The American version is just as dry and subtle as the UK version, that is precisely what is good about it. The UK boss was over the top in the UK version as well, not much subtle about him. And the Jim/Pam characters were just as subtle in both.

But of course it is a mark of pride to deride American entertainment as crude and less sophisticated as British comedy. No doubt there are many examples where that is the case, but it doesn't apply to the Office, sorry, it just doesn't.

I thought the UK version had more consistant laughs. Some of the stuff in the American version is better at times, but some of it's really flat too. It may just be because it's run longer. More chance of good and bad. But I think it's Ricky Gervais vs Steve Carell. For me Steve Carell always comes off as either extremely funny, or extremely lame (and I don't mean "lame" in the good way...)

I will say... Dwight is clearly better in the American version than the UK version.

Brit chiming in to say I actually like the US version more... oh god I feel dirty.

Something about Gervais annoys me sometimes, but that's a huge part of his schtick...oh god now i'm even talking in american.

Gervais has said he was inspired by Larry Sanders anyway so it doesn't really matter.

                        Dwight

where did they come up with this character? I love the 80's haircut.

Wasn't a big fan of last week's episode. Though I did like Jim at that meeting. though I missed what the meeting was supposed to be about. Some kind of book club?
