In those cases I think their chances of overthrowing the democracy in the first place are much lower and the task far more difficult.

[edit wait a second, looking back at the posts does this author seriously write some book relating to my deliberately ludicrous and off the wall suggestion that the EU would transform into a 4th reich? If so then Kuci had the right of it. It sounds retarded!]

Wait, why does imperialism require the overthrow of democracy? (Think Athens.)

No, it's about how a clever opportunist uses the assassination of the president to take over the American government.

I honestly don't think that the US will turn into a fascist dictatorship, not when it can turn into a massively corrupt stagnant democracy.

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

No, this is so that when another hurricane hits Louisiana, Bush can order the Mississippi NG to go in and help. And since VG isn't a nutjob I suspect he'll believe that explanation

Did anyone else think that Slaughtermeyer was Ted's DL?

And I don't think that Americans would let their country become a full blown dictatorship, but they would let it progress towards one and infact I think that's happening.

A long tradition of civil disdain for intrusive government? Absence of hyperinflation and massive unemployment? The fact that many of the people most supportive of the military are also those who are most opposed to the federal government and taxation, most supportive of federalism and states rights, etc.?

                        That's far more likely.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Some of the things there are a bit uneasy on the eyes, such as the claim that people who participated in demonstrations or criticised something on TV are prevented travel or flight.

That seems awfully odd, and seems to be a rather bold assessment which I don't know if I can trust, because this is not an article by a journalist but rather an editorial by a loon.

Most of the claims she makes are pure paranoid, and exist in other democratic countries such as britain, israel, germany etc.
