I think we've had a discussion before about the origins of the banana... I've always associated it with technophile/loinburger for some reason anyway.

I'm pretty sure it's much older than that fruit poll anyway, because as far as I remember, that was around the time MrFun had his strawberry rebellion against the reign of the banana.

Why do I suddenly have visions of Egyptiologists breaking into an ancient pyramid and proudly emerging with a mummified banana?

I recall we had polls on UBB and someone did a "what is your favorite special?" poll and Fruit was left off the list. This led to people including Banana as an option in other polls, etc.

As I recall, banana first made its appearance in a poll as a semi-serious option in response to the question: What will cause the EU and US to go to war? or something like that. It was during the trade war involving bananas, so it was a semi-serious option.

Very true. It evolved out of Roland's trade dsipute thread, and appeared almost with the first ubb polls.

Although there WERE polls before ubb, just made 'manually'.
