I think he is. I would need to know MUCH more about you to offer real advice. I think that commiting yourself would be the safest action (unless you alreay tried it in which case it is pointless). I don't know if drugs are good for you or not.

I will not be able to comment here for sometime due to real life.

This hit (and hurt) like a ton of bricks because she said something very similar once. In her final years, she became more and more reclusive from our family. My grandmother began vomiting green bile, that's when those around her in Florida (as far from family as she tried to get) realized just how in bad shape she was finally forced her to go to the hospital. She never once left what was to become her deathbed. She'd been ill for a long time because she was too paranoid about doctors and their pills. It was emotionally draining then and I'm not going to invest myself further than I already have here. I'm sorry, but you've gotten as much help from me or anyone else as you can possibly get from the Off Topic forum of a gaming site on the Internet. You have to try to trust your doctors. If you don't, find other medical doctors. If they help you in a similar manner, you have got to try to trust that they know what they're doing. You can try alternative medicines/treatments, but don't let them interfere with or supersede real medicines.

My wife is schizophrenic. She got paranoid too. She now uses drugs (risperdal) and she no longer suffers the way she did. She still has trouble sleeping, which can make things worse as one's brain needs sleep and will slip more easily if lacking sleep, but she's ok now. Sure, she's now fat while she was slim when we married. The drugs have side effects, and these may not work for you as they don't work for everyone. But these drugs let her be alive and happy.
But if drugs have an effect on you, you should take them. My wife stopped using them once because she felt better, despite all I could say, and one year later she suffered from pangs of panic and had to be treated again, with more drugs, resulting in more side effects.
About 1% of the population suffers from schizophrenia if I get my figures right. It's actually probably a lot of different causes having the same effect, and there i some research about drugs acting on the right elements in the brain (don't ask me the names, I'd have to google them up), but it's not likely to come in anytime soon, and may or may not work on you depending on the cause of the problem.
I'm sorry I can't help much except say find a good psy, but you shouldn't reject drugs if a doctor proposes you, because long term they can be a real benefit, despite all the side effects.

No. But what I am saying is that you need more professional help than here at Apolyton. Actually good close friends are very theoputic.

Yeah, that is good advise - if you have such. If you don't and life is on the net, poly isn't the worst place - despite the most obvious idiotic postings, there is a kind of maturity here - could be because of the pretty high age average of the site.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

To this I'd like to add that a member at one of the gyms I work at also suffers from a mental disorder. Exercise really helps her, both emotionally and in dealing with her problems. You and your wife should consider joining a gym and working out together: You both get the exercise and she gets emotional support from you and a way to counteract the fat-inducing side effects.

I know that exercise makes me feel better, but I don't have a serious mental issue.

I've had a friend who had a similar problem. He thought he might need some counselling but never went because he didn't trust them. Wouldn't call that one schizo though.
