What the hell kind of statement is this?

When I've got a device that is shaped like a pointing device and the functionality is designed to point at the screen, it's not too much to ask for it to be, I don't know...accurate?

I'm not sighting along the remote, I'm pointing it at the TV and the cursor never matches where I'm pointing it. It becomes less of an exercise of pointing and more of one using relative motion to position the pointer, not a direct pointing action...which to me moots the whole point of the controller's pointing functionality.

As I said, a light gun is more precise than the Wiimote pointer.

You're the idiot here. I'm not condemning the use of relative motion, I'm just pointing out that it's fundamentally the same mechanism as other relative motion devices -- a mouse, yep. Also, an analog stick...

The only difference is the analog stick doesn't mis-read your movements frequently like the Wiimote does.

I want to revisit the concept of the "uncanny valley" of the control scheme on the Wii. It gets to the point that when a control scheme is close to approximating real world movements, but falls short, it comes across as feeling awkward or otherwise uncomfortable.

It's the same theory behind computer graphics, and why Toy Story and Shrek don't look weird, but Polar Express does...
