Interesting Old Christianity that are alive today

Logical sense would dictate that if there was truly a god(s) that actually existed then there would be ONE religion. Not many, with many different factions!

You religionists can't even figure out whether there is only one god (Christianity, Judaism, Islam etc), or many (Hinduism). Indeed many religions that were dominant in the past (Graeco-Roman, Aztec, Norse, Egyptian, Celtic) are now dead. None of you have any proof god(s) exists - otherwise you would ALL know how to worship him/her/it/them and that is why there is such a plethora of religions today!

What is to say that the same won't to happen Christianity!!???

JM, a good starting point would be 'the christian world of the middle ages' by bernard hamilton. it gives an excellent overview of the spread and development of christianity, in all its diverse forms, from 312 to 1500.

it also contains some very interesting pictures of religious art, if you like that sort of thing.

Still, saying that it might happen to Christianity is only proof of your ignorance of the subject. Since, Christianity is so splintered it would seem that there are many gods within it.

Rastafarians are hardly a group of "old believers". The sect is less than 100 years old and its core beliefs really primarily revolve around the use of marijuana and the abuse of women. Strange thing though, even though they held Haile Sellaisse as sacred, in the Carribean in the 1980s they were fanatically devoted to the socialists, who executed Haile Selaisse. During the Grenadian revolutionary period some of them even volunteered for service in Ethiopia, fighting alongside and on behalf of the very group that executed him!

Yep, the St. Thomas Christians. I just met one the other day -- a priest, in fact. He serves at a church here in Singapore, and was headed to a conference in New York. We had an interesting (for me, anyway) chat about theology. They're connected to the Syrian Orthodox church in ways I still don't understand and have been meaning to look into. Thanks for the nudge.
